HOW TO PLAY

  • Matches are played on the Pokémon TCG Live application.

  • This event features flexible 3-Day Rounds and will progress over the course of several weeks. You will have three days to coordinate and complete your match against each opponent.

  • It is highly recommended that all players take screenshots of their match victory screens.

  • Please read all details below for more information about the tournament's structure and policies.

DECK RULES

1. Your deck MUST include between 1 and 2 Pokémon of every shape.

  • Pokémon are classified by their body shape, there are 14 shapes total. (see the full list below)
  • That means the minimum number of Pokémon cards in your deck is 14 (1 per shape) and the maximum is 28 (2 per shape)
  • Your deck must NOT include more than 2 Pokémon per shape.
    • For example: the entire Charizard evolution line is classified as "bipedal with a tail", so if you want to play Charizard ex the most you can play is a 1-0-1 line.
    • On the other hand you can play up to a 2-2-2 line of Gengar, because all 3 stages have a different shape.
  • Dragapult ex is banned, it does not appear in the list below.

2. Trainers and Special energy are limited to maximum 2 copies of each card name.

  • Basic Energy is allowed without restriction
  • Ace Specs are allowed

3. All Pokémon in your deck must be able to be put into play.

4. Below is a list of all shapes, click on the links to see all Pokémon card allowed for each shape. This is the resource being used to verify the validity of your deck. You can also see all Pokémon organized by shape on this article.

STRUCTURE

  • Swiss System: You will be paired with a new opponent each round and your goal is to earn as many wins/points as possible.

    • A match win is worth 1 point.
    • A match loss or draw is worth 0 pts.
  • Top Cut: At the end of the Swiss period, the top players will advance to a single-elimination bracket.

  • Best-of-3: All matches in this tournament are best-of-three games. This means you will play up to three games against each opponent; the first player to win two games is declared the match winner.

3-Day Rounds | 24-Hour Check-In Period

  • Once a new round is paired all players will have 3 days to complete the match with their opponent.

  • You MUST complete check in and initiate contact with your opponent within the first 24 hours. A missed check in with no sign of communication is a match loss.

TOURNAMENT POLICIES

Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory screen for each game. You should keep these until the end of the tournament in case there is a dispute.

Going First/Second: The winner of the coin flip decides who goes first for Game 1.  For Games 2 & 3, the loser of the prior game gets to decide who goes first.  (In cases where the winner of the previous game wins the coin flip and selects the wrong option by accident, the opponent is entitled to request a restart of the affected game.)

Missed Check In: In order to have as many active pairings as possible each round, players who miss check in should expect to be dropped. If you miss a check in by mistake but intend to continue playing in the event, please contact @Rabidragon on Discord and let him know you would like to be paired in future rounds.

Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, any incomplete matches will be automatically scored a double loss.  If one player was primarily responsible for the match not being completed (examples: lack of reasonable communication, insufficient availability to schedule a the match, leaving in the middle of a best-of-3 set, etc), the organizer is permitted to give their opponent the victory.

Connectivity Issues: It is league policy that each game that is initiated should count toward the match outcome. Some unfortunate situations may arise where a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues. In those cases, that player should accept the game loss.

Game Loss Due to Incorrect Deck: If the player is using the wrong deck, they should take the loss for that single game and then complete the remainder of the best-of-3 match using the correct deck.

Illegal Decklist: If a player submits a deck that does not comply with the rules, they will be dropped from the event. There are no changes to decklists once the event has started.

Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to be paired in future rounds, please go to your dashboard and click the red "Drop"button.

Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or in any other context is subject to removal from the event.

Staff Rulings: Any tournament staff for our league's events may take actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.

Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, use the "Request a Judge" button here on Limitless or get in touch with @Okorizaru or @Rabidragon on Discord. Since this is a flexible schedule event, please allow a few hours for a response.
