HOW TO PLAY

  1. Register and submit a valid decklist prior to the published start time.

  2. Complete Tournament Check-In (opens 30 minutes prior to the start of the event).

  3. Matches are played on the Pokemon TCG Live application.

  4. This event is played live in one sitting. You can find the details about the tournament structure below. Please keep your Limitless Dashboard open during the event.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

PHASE 1: Swiss Rounds

  • Best-of-1: You'll play a single game against your opponent.
  • Rounds are 25 minutes long (any incomplete games will be scored a draw)
  • You must check in and begin gameplay within the first 5 minutes of the round.
  • Wins are worth 1 pt; a draw/loss is worth 0 pts.

Important Notes: The number of Swiss rounds is tentatively set to 7, however it may increase or decrease based on the number of participants. Once the tournament starts, the structure will be locked in and can be found at the bottom of this page. If a round is finished early, we will start the next round ahead of schedule - it's important to keep your dashboard open at all times during the event. Thank you!

Following the conclusion of this phase, the top 8 players in the Standings will immediately advance to Top Cut...

PHASE 2: Top Cut

  • Single Elimination, Best-of-3: The first player to win 2 individual games is the match winner. The winner advances; the loser is eliminated.
  • Rounds are 60 minutes long. If a match runs into time, the player who is currently ahead (first in games won, and then in prize cards taken) will be declared the winner. (If tied, players will play until the next prize card is taken.)

TOURNAMENT POLICIES

Check In Policy: CHECK IN is required for each individual round. If you are not present and communicating with your opponent within the first 5 minutes, you'll receive the game loss. In an effort to ensure as many players as possible are paired with active opponents, those who fail to check in with no sign of being present may be dropped without warning. If you miss the start of a round by accident but still intend to play in future rounds, it's your responsibility to contact the organizer/judge and make them aware that you wish to continue in the event.

Going First/Second: For single-game Swiss rounds, the winner of the coin flip decides who goes first.  For Games 2 & 3 in the top cut best-of-three matches, the loser of the prior game gets to decide who goes first.  (In cases where the winner of the previous game wins the coin flip and selects the wrong option by accident, the opponent is entitled to request a restart of the affected game.)

Game Loss Due to Connectivity/App Issues or Player Mistakes: It is league policy that each game that is initiated should count toward the match outcome. Some unfortunate situations may arise during gameplay — a player’s game may end or become unresponsive due to internet or app issues, the player may choose the wrong deck, etc. In those cases, that player should accept the game loss.

Slowplay/Stalling: Players are expected to take actions at a reasonable pace. It is not allowed to purposely waste time by repeatedly running down the timer or doing actions that don't impact the game state. Intentionally slowplaying is considered an unsporting conduct and should be reported (with screenshots if possible).

Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, any incomplete matches will be automatically scored a draw. This is equivalent to a double loss, so there is no benefit to either player in not completing the game on time.

Proof of Match Result: It is strongly recommended that you keep a record of the match results in the event of any disputes - the most important of which is a screenshot of the match results/recap screen showing both players with the winner clearly labeled. Providing as much information/proof as possible is always going to be helpful when asking a judge to resolve an issue.

Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to play, please use the red "Drop" button on your dashboard so that you are not paired with an opponent in any future rounds. Thank you!

Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or in any other context is subject to removal from the event.

Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, use the "Request a Judge" button here on Limitless or get in touch with @rabidragon#3983 on Discord.
