📋 Decklist Procedures
📬 Decklist Submissions
The decklist that is submitted is your DECLARATION of what functional cards and specific energy you will use for the ENTIRE tournament (Day 1 and Day 2). Decklists will be made public for tournament use and be recorded as data for the metagame.
📝 Submission Deadline — decklist and energy changes can only be submitted BEFORE the tournament starts
🔒 Locked After Start — you are not allowed to change your decklist or your energy in game to something different from your submitted list AFTER the tournament has started
🎨 Cosmetic Variants — cosmetic variants of cards are acceptable as long as they are functionally the same as the corresponding cards you have submitted in your decklist. There is no need to list the cosmetic variant of a card with your decklist submission. Even if you register a cosmetic variant of a card, limitless will display it as its base version.
⚠️ Decklist Penalties
🛑 Call a Judge if you notice your opponent's functional cards not matching their decklist
🔄 Wrong Deck Selected (Game 1) — if you are in the FIRST game of a match and you accidentally selected the wrong deck, reveal the card to prove the mistake and restart the game with the correct deck. Further mistakes will result in a game loss for the match.
🚫 Later Rounds — players are expected to have their correct decklists already selected for their matches by the later rounds. If you are found to have an incorrect decklist at this point, you will be dropped out of the tournament.
✔️ Check-Ins
These are mandatory attendance checks that act as a social contract that states you are present, agree to start the match, and will record the results accurately.
☑️ Tournament Check-In
🕐 Opens Early — these will be opened and announced 1-2 hours before Day 1 starts, and you only need to do this part once BEFORE the tournament starts
❌ Failure to Check In — players who fail to check in will be removed from the tournament but may still register late (with a default loss)
✅ Round Check-In (DAY 1 ONLY)
⏰ players have 5 MINUTES to check-in each match round or they will receive an automatic MATCH LOSS
- if your opponent has checked-in, but has not shown signs of being responsive to continue the games, request a Judge
⚠️ Check-In Failure Scenarios
🛑 Matches should NOT be played unless BOTH players have successfully ✅ checked in. Contact a Judge for instructions on how to proceed.
📋 System Records — if any system-related Check-In confirmation conflicts arise, we will trust the site's records of the round unless there is sufficient evidence that the system failed
⚔️ Early Match Start — Starting the match before both players have checked in will count as an official match and must be played out fully. Inform a judge if this is happening as early as you can.
🔄 Match Restart — After a failed Check-In, both players may agree to ask for Judge approval to attempt a match restart. The table Judge will evaluate if a conclusive game is feasible with the remaining time.
🚪 Excessive Failures — Unless in contention for top cut, players who have excessive Check-In failures will be dropped from the tournament under the assumption that they no longer wish to participate in the tournament.
⚔️ Match Structure
- DAY 1: play Swiss Round matches to earn the required qualification points for DAY 2 (see Tournament Structure at the bottom)
- DAY 2: play Single Elimination Bracket matches to determine the tournament champion
🔁 DAY 1: Swiss Rounds
🔀 Pairing System — Swiss Rounds pair you against players of similar records as the rounds progress
🎮 Match Format — each match is played as Bo3 (Best of 3) games, with 45 minutes allotted for pacing and declaring ties as needed
📣 Round Announcements — the first round will be announced on discord. Next rounds start after ALL matches are completed and pairings are made (discord will have announcement pings to confirm)
🎯 DAY 2: Single Elimination Bracket
🎦 Screen Share — screensharing your games on discord is REQUIRED or you will be DQ'd
💀 Elimination — each match is still played as Bo3, but if you lose the match, you are eliminated from the tournament
⏱️ Timing — rounds are untimed. Pay attention to 📣announcements for any live updates.
⏰ For every 5 minutes a player does not show up for a MATCH, they will receive a GAME LOSS
▶️ Bracket Pacing
🟢 Getting Started — you may start your first match as soon as the start is announced on discord. Play your bracket matches as they are available.
🏆 Top 32 Checkpoint — do not start any games until a Judge has approved you to proceed. Verify that you and your opponent are ready, then call a Judge for a Top 32 Checkpoint.
- if your discord name is either offensive and/or not matching your limitless name, it will be changed
- if you are unable to screen share your games on our discord, you will be DQ'd
⭐ Top 4 — please wait for instructions. All games will be featured in the feature match as directed by casters.
⚖️ Judges and Match Rulings
📌 How to Contact Judges
🖥️ Use Your Dashboard First — Call Judges using your dashboard FIRST if there are any major issues/concerns involving the tournament matches.
⏳ Response Times — There are often many calls during the round, so Judges will respond as soon as they are able. Calling as early as possible will allow better handling of the situation.
🚫 Discord #judge-calls — This channel should only be used IF a Judge has requested additional context from the limitless chat. This is NOT to be used to ignore or skip the line for Judge assistance.
💬 Communication — judges will primarily use the limitless to chat with you about the context of your game/match, so please don't ping them on discord
📸 Late Results — If your BO3 match is completed but the result isn't submitted in time, call a judge and have a screenshot ready to submit as evidence
🤝 Disputes — for complex situations or disputes, our judge team will quickly consult with each other and give the ruling they decide to be the most fair
❌ Incorrect/False Match Reports
📸 Screenshot Your Wins — get in the habit of screenshotting your victory screens, including the opponent's name, so you can quickly call a judge to resolve incorrect match reporting
🚫 Don't Mark Unplayed Games — DO NOT mark games that have not officially progressed such as when waiting for a Check-In timer. This may cause irreversible records and lead to a DQ for fraudulent marking. Request a judge if needed.
⚠️ if both players in a match cannot provide sufficient evidence to settle a dispute, the match will be marked as a DOUBLE GAME LOSS
🤝 Ties/Draws
In the interest of pacing the tournament to be considerate of everyone's time, we offer options and rules to help pace matches, so we don't have situations where there are too many inconclusive MATCHES.
General Tie Resolutions
The following general tiebreakers help prevent turning a conclusive match into an inconclusive one with the 3rd game.
📌 Tie Resolution Rules
🤝 Game Tie — a GAME TIE is considered as both players receiving a GAME WIN
1️⃣ Game 1 Tied — if game 1 ended in a TIE, the winner of game 2 is the MATCH WINNER
2️⃣ Game 2 Tied — if game 2 ends in a TIE after a conclusive game 1, the winner of game 1 is the MATCH WINNER
Day 1 Swiss Rounds: Intentional Draws
✅ Requesting a Draw — if both players are already in contention for top cut, a judge may be requested to approve a match tie
💡 Tip — you have no obligation to play your remaining rounds if you are already eligible for top cut, but it is generally much better to record a tie than to take a loss
Day 2 Single Elimination Bracket: Inconclusive Match Tiebreaker
The rare case of a Game 3 ending in a TIE does not help progress the Bracket Match, and additional games will hold up the tournament, so a coin flip will decide the winner.
📞 Process — call a Judge to initiate this process and they will specify how they would like to observe this outcome (stream watch, screenshot, etc.)
🪙 Coin Flip — the coin used will be the one the TCG Pocket application uses to start a game. The player who flips HEADS will be declared the winner.
📶 Connection Issues, Turn 0 Situations, and External Factors
We have no control over external factors such as ISP issues, device issues, or weather issues, so do the best you can to resolve things on your end. We will enforce the following rules to help pace the tournament.
🔄 Failed Game Start — if the game fails to start, you may restart your game
📡 Disconnect — if a disconnect happens during the game, the player with the Victory Screen will be awarded the game win
🚫 External Factors — personal responsibilities, weather conditions, poor schedule priorities, etc. will not be admissible as a reason for players to hold up the tournament. We advocate that players deal with their life issues and health first over playing in the tournament (drop if you cannot commit the time).
⏰ No Extensions — no player is obligated to wait for their opponent to use up the allotted match time for reasons outside the confines of the tournament. No extra time will be granted as 45 minutes is already an extension of the previous allotted time.
🚫 Player Conduct and Rule Violations
⚠️ we DO NOT tolerate toxic behavior, unsportsmanlike conduct, cheating, and rule sharking
⚖️ Evaluation — player behavior will be evaluated at the Judge's discretion. Bad behavior that can be corrected will receive simple warnings.
🔨 Escalation — escalated/repeated bad behaviors (including those from our previous tournaments) can expect more severe punishments such as being dropped from the current tournament or bans from our community. Banned players will be forcibly dropped from our tournaments.
🤝 Respect — do your best to respect the players and staff, even if there are disagreements
⬆️ Top Cut Qualifications Scaling
Depending on the size of the starting active tournament participants, rounds and qualifying points will scale. See Tournament Structure at the bottom for current criteria.
