HOT STREAK
Your Goal: To Win 3 Games in a Row!
Organizer/Head Judge: Rabidragon
This is an exclusive tournament for members of the Pokémon TCG Pocket Discord server. This event will be played across approximately one month and may require a significant time commitment from participating players. See full details below and check the tournament schedule for deadlines and anticipated round start dates.
HOW TO REGISTER
Click the Register now button on this page and then enter the registration code from the PTCGP Discord server (look for the #register-here channel in the Tournament Hub). You will also be required to provide the following information when you sign up:
- Your Discord username (please provide your constant username, not your server-specific nickname/handle).
- You'll be asked to correctly answer a couple questions about the tournament rules.
Tournament Check In is required. A yellow "check in" button will appear on the dashboard 24 hours before the start of the event.
This event is limited to 50 entries on a first come, first serve basis. If we are full, I encourage you to register to be placed on the waiting list - it is likely some players ahead of you may not meet all requirements to play.
HOW TO PLAY
Matches are played on the Pokémon TCG Pocket application.
This event features flexible 5-Day Rounds and will progress over the course of approximately one month. You will have up to five days to coordinate and complete your match against each opponent.
It is highly recommended that all players take screenshots and keep records of their match history.
Please read all details below for more information about the tournament's structure and policies.
GAMEPLAY RULES
Keep track of your individual game results!
The first player to win 3 games in a row is declared the match winner!
- You and your opponent will continue play until one person wins 3 consecutive games OR until you've played 15 games in total (whichever comes first).
- If an individual game ends in a tie, that game is considered to have not been played and does not count toward the 15-game maximum; any existing win streak is not broken due to a tie.
What if we play 15 games without someone winning 3 consecutive games?
- Swiss Rounds: the match will be scored a draw.
- Top Cut: the player who won more individual games will be declared the match winner.
For each individual game in this tournament, you may use any deck of your choice.
- All available cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket are allowed to be used.
- You may choose to keep the same deck or change decks between games... the decision is yours! You and your opponent should not discuss deck choices in advance; neither player should know what deck(s) the other is using until the games are played.
STRUCTURE
Swiss System: You will be paired with a new opponent each round and your goal is to earn as many wins/points as possible.
- A match win is worth 3 points.
- A match draw is worth 1 point.
Top Cut: At the end of the Swiss period, the top players will advance to a single-elimination bracket.
5-Day Rounds | 24-Hour Check-In Period
Given that a larger number of games than usual may be required in order for a player to achieve a 3-game win streak, players will be allowed up to 5 DAYS to complete their match.
You MUST check in and contact your opponent on Discord within the first 24 HOURS of each round.
- Go to your dashboard to find your opponent and click the check in button.
- Go to our Discord server and contact your opponent to arrange a time to play.
If you fail to check in or communicate in a timely manner, you will automatically receive the match loss. There will be a player directory provided in the #organizer-updates channel so that you can find your opponent’s Discord name. We also have a dedicated channel for #hot-streak-tournament if you need further assistance finding your opponent.
TOURNAMENT POLICIES
Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory screen for each game. You should keep these until the end of the tournament in case there is a dispute.
Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, any incomplete matches will be automatically scored a draw. If one player is deemed primarily responsible for the match not being completed (examples: lack of reasonable communication, insufficient availability, or leaving when the opponent is on a 2-game win streak), the organizer is permitted to give their opponent the victory.
Connectivity Issues: It is our policy that each game that is started should count toward the match outcome. A game officially starts at the coin flip. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. If players get an error during the initial match connection (before the coin flip), that game is not considered to have been started and you should try again with no impact to the match results.
Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to be paired in future rounds, please go to your dashboard and click the red "Drop"button.
Dropped after Missed Check In: In order to have as many active pairings as possible each round, players who miss check in should expect to be dropped. If you miss a check in by mistake but intend to continue playing in the event, please Request a Judge or contact the organizer on Discord and let us know you would like to be paired in future rounds.
Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or in any other context is subject to removal from the event.
Staff Rulings: Any tournament staff for our league's events may take actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.
Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, please contact @rabidragon on Discord.
