GYM SHOWDOWN
Battle alongside your favorite Gym Leader and their Pokémon! How far will you make it?
This is a custom tournament with special deck requirements. Matches will be played once every 3 days. Please read all information below. Thank you!
Organized by @Rabidragon for the Pokémon TCG Pocket Discord Server
REGISTRATION PROCESS
Note: The registration & decklist submission period ends 6 hours prior to the published tournament start time.
Click the Register now button on this page. You will also be required to provide the following information when you sign up:
- Your Discord username (please provide your constant username, not your server-specific nickname/handle).
- You'll be asked to correctly answer a fundamental question about this event's structure.
Submit your custom decklist via your dashboard. You can build your 20-card Pocket deck using the Deck Builder feature and copy/paste it into the decklist submission form.
Complete Tournament Check-In via your dashboard. A yellow "check in" button will appear 24 hours before the start of the tournament.
Make sure you have joined the Discord server. This will allow you to follow the latest updates on the event and more easily contact your opponents.
In the final hours before the start time, the organizer will check all tournament registrations, decklists, and Discord usernames. If you have not successfully submitted a deck or your username cannot be found in the Discord server, you will not be included in the event. Please be sure you have met all requirements above - thank you!
DECK RULES
Building your deck for this event is a 3-step process:
You should now have a 20-card decklist! You must submit your decklist prior to the start time. You will use that deck for the duration of the event.
Click here for a detailed list of all eligible cards in plain text format.
Note: Alternate printings are always allowed in our events as long as they have the same name & function as a valid card per the rules above.
STRUCTURE
PHASE 1: Qualifier Rounds. This is a preliminary set of 3 rounds, everyone is welcome to play. To qualify for the main bracket, you must win at least 2 of your 3 matches.
PHASE 2: Single-Elimination Bracket: The qualifying players will be placed on a bracket. The winner of each match advances; the loser is eliminated.
Best-of-3: All matches are BO3. This means you will play up to three games against each opponent; the first player to win two games is declared the match winner.
3-Day Rounds | 24-Hour Check-In Period
Once a new round is paired all players will have 3 DAYS to complete the match and report results.
You MUST check in and contact your opponent on Discord within the first 24 HOURS of each round.
- Go to your dashboard to find your opponent and click the check in button.
- Go to our Discord server and contact your opponent to arrange a time to play.
If you fail to check in or communicate in a timely manner, you will automatically receive the match loss. There will be a player directory provided in the #organizer-updates channel so that you can find your opponent’s Discord name. We also have a dedicated channel for #gym-showdown if you need further assistance finding your opponent.
TOURNAMENT POLICIES
Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory screen for each game in case of match dispute.
Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, the organizer will assess any situations where a match was not completed. If one player was primarily responsible for the match not being completed (examples: lack of reasonable communication, insufficient availability, not being present at an agreed upon time, leaving in the middle of a best-of-3 set), the organizer is permitted to give their opponent the victory. Extensions may be granted under certain circumstances, but players should generally expect match deadlines to be enforced.
Connectivity Issues: It is our policy that each game that is started should count toward the match outcome. A game officially starts at the coin flip. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. If players get an error during the initial match connection (before the coin flip), that game is not considered to have been started and you should try again with no impact to the match results.
Game Loss Due to Incorrect Deck: If the player is using the wrong deck, they should take the loss for that single game and then complete the remainder of the best-of-3 match using the correct deck.
Illegal Decklist: If a player submits a deck that does not comply with the rules, they will be dropped from the event. There are no changes to decklists once the submission period has ended.
Tie Games: When a game ends in a tie, the player who had more points gets credit for the win. If both players had the same number of points, replay that game.
Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or in any other context is subject to removal from the event.
Staff Rulings: Any tournament staff for our league's events may take actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.
Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, use the "Request a Judge" button here on Limitless or get in touch with @rabidragon on Discord. Since this is a flexible schedule event, please allow a few hours for a response.
