GENETIC APEX #5: TEAM TOURNAMENT

Tournament organized by Rabidragon

PTCGP Discord Server

r/PTCGP Subreddit

Please read the rules to ensure you and your team are able to successfully compete in the event. You must have a full team of 3 players, each with a valid decklist as outlined in the "Deck Rules" section below. Thank you!

HOW TO REGISTER

Players are competing in this event as Teams of 3. You MUST join the PTCGP Discord Server (look for the Tournament Hub section). We use Discord for event updates and player communication. You can also use the Discord server to find a team.

Just as in a normal event, each player must register and submit a decklist. Due to the nature of the event, registration and decklists are due at least 30 minutes in advance of the start time. You can find the deadlines in the tournament schedule.

During Registration:

  • If you are the first player on your team to register, you'll select "Create Team". You'll be the team leader and will be asked to provide a Team Name. After succesful registration, you will be assigned a Team ID (this can be accessed anytime on your dashboard just below the tournament header).
  • If you are the second/third person on your team to register, you'll select "Join Team" and enter the Team ID provided by your team leader.

Once you are registered, you can submit your decklist via the dashboard. You can build your 20-card Pocket deck using the Deck Builder feature and copy/paste it into the decklist submission form. You should coordinate with your teammates to ensure you all have valid decklists.

Tournament Check In is required for all participants on the day of the event. A yellow "check in" button will appear on the dashboard 30 minutes before the published start time.

HOW TO PLAY

  • Matches are played on the Pokémon TCG Pocket application using the Private Match feature of the game.

  • Make sure you have installed the most recent version of the game application - check for updates on the day of the event.

  • This event is played live in one sitting. You will report your match results through the tournament dashboard - please keep it open for the duration of the event.

  • It is recommended that all players take screenshots of their match victory screens.

DECK RULES

Standard format: Teams may use all currently available Pokémon TCG Pocket cards.

Each member of the team submits their own individual decklist to be used during the event.

Special Team Deck Rule

You will have to coordinate with your teammates to ensure you follow the rule below.

Each CARD NAME may appear in no more than ONE of the team's three decks.

This rule applies to Pokémon and Trainers. There are two exceptions listed below (these specific card names may be used in all decks without restriction):

  • Poké Ball
  • Professor's Research

STRUCTURE

This tournament experience will be very similar to a normal tournament. However, your match results are combined with the results of your teammates to determine which team wins each matchup.

Swiss System (BO3) | 35-Minute Rounds | 5-Minute Check-In Period

  • For each round of this tournament, your team will compete against a rival team. Each individual on your team will be paired against one of the rival team's players.

  • You will play a Best-of-3 match against your individual opponent (the first player to win 2 games is the match winner).

  • Your match results will then be compiled with the other members of your team. Whichever team has 2 or more players win their respective matches is declared the winning team.

  • Players will be allowed up to 35 minutes to complete their match with their opponent. Incomplete matches are scored a double loss. There is no benefit to either player/team in not completing matches on time.

  • You MUST click the yellow check in button within the first 5 minutes of the round. Then you should coordinate the match password with your opponent and begin gameplay immediately. Players who are late and/or non-responsive will receive a game loss.

Top Cut | 8 Teams Advance

  • Single-Elimination Bracket; Best-of-3 games.

  • Gameplay begins immediately after the Swiss phase; Top Cut players should check in within 5 minutes and complete their matches within 35 minutes.

TOURNAMENT POLICIES

Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory details screen for each game. You should keep these until the end of the tournament in case there is a dispute. If two players disagree on the outcome of a game and neither has proof, it will be scored a double loss.

Connectivity Issues: It is our policy that each game that is started should count toward the match outcome. A game officially starts at the coin flip. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. If players get an error during the initial match connection (before the coin flip), that game is not considered to have been started and you should try again with no impact to the match results.

Slowplay/Stalling: Players are expected to take actions at a reasonable pace. Intentionally slowplaying is considered an unsporting conduct and should be reported (with screenshots if possible). If there is a large disparity in match timers, a judge may assess a game loss penalty.

Game Loss Due to Incorrect Deck: If the player is using the wrong deck, they should take the loss for that single game and then complete the remainder of the best-of-3 match using the correct deck.

Missed Check In: The check in process each round lets the organizers know who is here and ready to play. We remove players who do not appear active, so if you miss check in but intend to continue in the event please call a judge to let them know.

Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to play, please use the red "Drop" button on your dashboard so that you are not paired with an opponent in any future rounds. Thank you!

Team Drops: In the event that a player drops or is disqualified from the event, their teammates can continue in the event as a team of 2 (the third match will be counted as a loss). Once 2 individuals from a team have dropped or been disqualified, that team is automatically eliminated from the tournament.

Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or in any other context is subject to removal from the event.

Staff Rulings: Any tournament staff for our league's events may take actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.

Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, use the "Request a Judge" button here on Limitless or get in touch with @rabidragon on Discord.
