Click the Register Now button to sign up for the event. You'll be asked to provide the following information:
- Your Discord username (please provide your permanent username, not your display name or server nickname).
- You'll be asked to correctly answer a fundamental question about this event's structure.
Join us on Discord: You MUST join our Discord server. Our players are expected to use Discord to communicate with their opponents to schedule their matches. If you are not a member of the server you will be dropped from the event.
Tournament Check In is required. A yellow "check in" button will appear on the dashboard 24 hours before the start of the event.
HOW TO PLAY
Matches are played on the Pokémon TCG Pocket application.
This event features flexible 3-Day Rounds, that means you will have three days to coordinate and complete your match against each opponent. You are required to check in here on Limitless and make contact with your opponent on Discord within the first 24 hours of the round.
It is highly recommended that all players take screenshots of their match victory screens.
Please read all details below for more information about the tournament's structure and policies.
DECK RULES
Players must use a different deck for each individual game within a best-of-3 match.
Each of the three decks used by the player must generate a different type(s) of energy.
Example: Let's say the deck you use for Game 1 generates Lightning & Water energy. The decks you use for Games 2 & 3 would not be allowed to generate Lightning or Water energy.
The energy rule above applies to the energy you select to be generated in your Energy Zone. All card effects (including ones that attach energy) are free to be used without restriction.
There are no restrictions on cards. You may use the same cards in multiple decks, but there can be no overlap in the energy generated.
You do not submit any decklists in advance, but please make sure the deck(s) you intend to use are already built and ready to play before you begin your matches.
STRUCTURE
Swiss System with Top Cut
- You will be paired with a new opponent each round and your goal is to earn as many wins/points as possible.
- A match win is worth 1 point.
- A match loss or draw is worth 0 pts.
- At the end of the Swiss period, the top 16 players in the standings will advance to a single-elimination bracket.
The exact number of Swiss Rounds necessary will be determined at the start of the event.
Best-of-3: All matches in this tournament are best-of-three games. This means you will play up to three games against each opponent; the first player to win two games is declared the match winner.
3-Day Rounds | 24-Hour Check-In Period
Once a new round is paired all players will have 3 DAYS to complete the match with their opponent.
You must complete CHECK IN within the first 24 hours of each round. Go to your dashboard and click the check in button. If you fail to check in on time, you will automatically receive the match loss.
You must CONTACT YOUR OPPONENT on Discord within the first 24 hours of each round. There will be a player directory provided for each event in the #organizer-updates channel so that you can easily find your opponent’s Discord name. If you fail to make contact on time or are not communicating with your opponent in a productive manner, you will receive the match loss.
TOURNAMENT POLICIES
Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory screen for each game. You should keep these until the end of the tournament in case there is a dispute.
Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, any incomplete matches will be automatically scored a double loss. If one player was primarily responsible for the match not being completed (examples: lack of reasonable communication, insufficient availability to schedule a the match, leaving in the middle of a best-of-3 set, etc), the organizer is permitted to give their opponent the victory.
Connectivity Issues: It is our policy that each game that is started should count toward the match outcome. A game officially starts at the coin flip. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. If players get an error during the initial match connection (before the coin flip), that game is not considered to have been started and you should try again with no impact to the match results.
Game Loss Due to Incorrect Deck: If the player is uses a deck with the same energy as a previous deck, they should take the loss for that game. Then complete the remainder of the best-of-3 match (if necessary).
Tie Games: When a game ends in a tie, the player who had more points gets credit for the win. If both players had the same number of points, replay that game. Given the nature of this event, you may switch decks for the replay and the energy type(s) used in the tie game can be used again if you wish.
Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to be paired in future rounds, please go to your dashboard and click the red "Drop"button.
Dropped after Missed Check In: In order to have as many active pairings as possible each round, players who miss check in should expect to be dropped. If you miss a check in by mistake but intend to continue playing in the event, please contact @Rabidragon on Discord and let us know you would like to be paired in future rounds.
Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or in any other context is subject to removal from the event.
Staff Rulings: Any tournament staff for our league's events may take actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.
Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, use the "Request a Judge" button here on Limitless or get in touch with @Tournament Staff on Discord. Since this is a flexible schedule event, please allow a few hours for a response.
