  • Click the Register Now button to sign up for the event. You'll be asked to provide the following information:

    • Your Discord username (please provide your constant username, not your server-specific nickname/handle).
    • You'll be asked to correctly answer a fundamental question about this event's structure.
  • Submit your custom decklist via the dashboard. You can build your 20-card Pocket deck using the Deck Builder feature and copy/paste it into the decklist submission form.

  • Join us on Discord: You MUST join the Pocket Discord server. This will allow you to get the latest updates on the event and more easily contact your opponents.

  • Tournament Check In is required. A yellow "check in" button will appear on the dashboard 24 hours before the start of the event.

deckrules

  • Cards from any set may be used (including A4)
  • A3-Rare Candy, A3b-Sylveon ex and A4-Dark Pendant are banned.

Alternate printings are allowed in our events as long as they have the same name & function as a valid card per the rules above.

You must submit a decklist prior to the start time. You will use that deck for the duration of the event.

gameplayrules

You may only take the third point of the battle if your deck is empty.

What this means-

  • You may take your first and second point at any time. If taking your first or second point would cause you to win the match, you may do so (even if your deck is not empty).

  • You may not win by Knocking Out your opponent’s only Pokemon and taking your third point if you still have cards in your deck. Your deck must be empty to take the third point, no exceptions.

  • Your opponent cannot be penalized for actions taking place on your turn, or an effect that resolves as a result of a card you played.

    • If you give your opponent their third point by Knocking Out your own Pokemon via damage on your turn (Dusknoir, Flareon ex, etc.), or by attacking a Pokemon that results in a damaging effect (Druddigon, Pyukumuku, any Pokemon with Rocky Helmet, etc.) they will still be awarded with the win.
    • Knocking Out your opponent’s Pokemon via a status condition to take the third point, without your deck being empty, will be counted as a loss. This includes statuses from abilities (Grafaiai, Typhlosion, etc) or other card effects (Poison Barb).
  • There are Pokemon who discard X number of cards from your deck when you attack. You may take the third point and win if these attacks discard enough cards to empty your deck as they attack. It will count as your deck being “empty” if it is “emptied” as a result of the attack.

Swiss System with Top Cut

  • Swiss System: You will be paired with a new opponent each round and your goal is to earn as many match/set wins as possible.

    • A match win is worth 1 point.
    • A match loss or draw is worth 0 pts.
  • Top Cut: At the end of the Swiss phase, all players with 5 or more points will advance to a single-elimination bracket.

  • Best-of-3: All matches in this tournament are best-of-three games. This means you will play up to three games against each opponent; the first player to win two games is declared the match winner.

policies

Scheduling Your Match

Coordinating a Time to Play: Players are responsible for making a reasonable effort to schedule their matches. A reasonable effort is defined as making contact via Discord in a timely manner and providing specific dates/times that are suitable for play. You and your opponent should agree on a mutually acceptable date & time so that both players know when to be online and ready to play.

Late to Match: If a player is more than 10 minutes late to an agreed upon time, they will receive a game loss penalty. If they are more than 20 minutes late, they will receive a match loss.

Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, the organizer will assess any situations where a match was not completed. If one player was primarily responsible for the match not being completed (examples: lack of reasonable communication, insufficient availability, leaving in the middle of a best-of-3 set), the organizer is permitted to give their opponent the victory. Extensions may be granted under certain circumstances, but players should generally expect match deadlines to be enforced.

During Your Match

Connectivity Issues: It is our policy that each game that is started should count toward the match outcome. A game officially starts at the coin flip. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. If players get an error during the initial match connection (before the coin flip), that game is not considered to have been started and you should try again with no impact to the match results.

Game Loss due to Incorrect Deck: If the player is using the wrong deck, they should take the loss for that single game and then complete the remainder of the best-of-3 match using the correct deck.

Game Loss due to Gameplay Violation: If a player breaks any special gameplay rules, they will forfeit that game to their opponent. Their opponent should take screenshots of the game state and battle log to report after the match concludes.

Tie Games: When a game ends in a tie, the player who had more points gets credit for the win. If both players had the same number of points, replay that game.

Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory screen for each game. You should keep these until the end of the tournament in case there is a dispute.

Tournament Eligibility & More

Illegal Decklist: If a player submits a deck that does not comply with the rules, they will be dropped from the event. There are no changes to decklists once the event has started.

Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to be paired in future rounds, please go to your dashboard and click the red "Drop"button.

Dropped after Missed Check In: In order to have as many active pairings as possible each round, players who fail to check in for their match should expect to be dropped. If you missed a check in by mistake but intend to continue playing in the event, please contact the organizer on Discord and let them know you would like to be paired in future rounds.

Player Autonomy: Each player is expected to use their own Pocket account to play (it should match the "in-game name" from your registration) and their own Discord account to communicate. Account sharing and/or the use of multiple accounts are prohibited.

Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. Please conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or any other context is subject to removal from the event.

Staff Rulings: Tournament staff has the authority to take any actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.
