deckrules

1. Your deck must contain at least six cards that are bird Pokémon.

Once you have your six bird Pokémon cards, you may bring any other Pokémon you like.
The following Pokémon are birds:

Grass
• Rowlet / Dartrix / Decidueye / Decidueye EX

Fire
• Moltres / Moltres EX
• Fletchling / Fletchinder / Talonflame
• Oricorio
• Ho-Oh EX

Water
• Psyduck / Golduck
• Articuno / Articuno EX
• Ducklett / Swanna
• Cramorant
• Piplup / Prinplup / Empoleon
• Delibird

Lightning
• Zapdos / Zapdos EX
• Oricorio

Psychic
• Sigilyph
• Togepi / Togetic / Togekiss
• Oricorio / Oricorio
• Natu / Xatu

Fighting
• Aerodactyl EX
• Flamigo

Dark
• Murkrow / Honchkrow

Metal
• Skarmory / Skarmory EX

Colorless
• Pidgey / Pidgeotto / Pidgeot / Pidgeot EX
• Spearow / Fearow
• Farfetch'd
• Doduo / Dodrio
• Aerodactyl
• Chatot
• Starly / Staravia / Staraptor
• Hoothoot / Noctowl
• Hawlucha
• Pikipek / Trumbeak / Toucannon
• Lugia EX (technically)
• Ditto (honorary)
• Porygon / Porygon2 / Porygon-Z

Note that Old Amber is not considered a bird, even though its evolution is.

2. Jasmine is banned.

Skarmory EX was too good with all its defensive tools.

3. If your deck contains Decidueye EX, it can't bring Erika or Lillie.

Similarly, Decidueye EX was too good with too much healing.

Note that you can run non-EX Decidueye together with Erika or Lillie just fine.

4. Cards from the upcoming set, Secluded Springs (A4a), are not legal for this tournament.

The expansion's release date and this tournament's start date fairly close, so I'm including this so everyone's on the same page.

You must submit a decklist prior to the start time. You will use that deck for the duration of the event.

structure

Swiss System with Top Cut

  • Swiss System: You will be paired with a new opponent each round and your goal is to earn as many match/set wins as possible.

    • A match win is worth 1 point.
    • A match loss or draw is worth 0 pts.
  • Top Cut: At the end of the Swiss phase, all players with 5 or more points will advance to a single-elimination bracket.

  • Best-of-3: All matches in this tournament are best-of-three games. This means you will play up to three games against each opponent; the first player to win two games is declared the match winner.

3-Day Rounds | 24-Hour Check-In Period

  • Once a new round is paired all players will have 3 DAYS to complete the match with their opponent.

  • You must CHECK IN within the first 24 hours of each round. Go to your dashboard and click the check in button. If you don't check in on time, the system will give you a loss for the round.

  • You should CONTACT YOUR OPPONENT ON DISCORD within the first 24 hours of each round. There will be a player directory provided for each event in the #organizer-updates channel so that you can easily find your opponent’s Discord name. If you fail to make contact on time or are not communicating with your opponent in a productive manner, you may receive a loss for the round.

policies

Scheduling Your Match

Coordinating a Time to Play: Players are responsible for making a reasonable effort to schedule their matches. A reasonable effort is defined as making contact via Discord in a timely manner and providing specific dates/times that are suitable for play. You and your opponent should agree on a mutually acceptable date & time so that both players know when to be online and ready to play.

Late to Match: If a player is late to an agreed-upon time by more than 15 minutes, and the players do not successfully play out their matches by the end of the round, the late player will receive a loss for the round.

Incomplete Matches: At the end of a scheduled round, the organizer will assess any situations where a match was not completed. If one player was primarily responsible for the match not being completed (examples: lack of reasonable communication, insufficient availability, leaving in the middle of a best-of-3 set), their opponent may receive a win-by-default. Alternately, extensions may be granted under certain circumstances. If no other factors apply, the result of an incomplete match will be a draw.

During Your Match

Connectivity Issues: It is our policy that each game that is started should count toward the match outcome. A game officially starts at the coin flip. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. If players get an error during the initial match connection (before the coin flip), that game is not considered to have been started and you should try again with no impact to the match results.

Game Loss due to Incorrect Deck: If a player is using the wrong deck, they should take the loss for that single game and then complete the remainder of the best-of-3 match using the correct deck.

Tie Games: When a game ends in a tie, the player who had more points gets credit for the win. If both players had the same number of points, replay that game.

Proof of Match Result: It is recommended that players take a screenshot of the victory screen for each game. You should keep these until the end of the tournament in case there is a dispute.

Tournament Eligibility & More

Illegal Decklist: If a player submits a deck that does not comply with the rules, they will be dropped from the event. There are no changes to decklists once the event has started.

Dropping from the Event: If you no longer wish to be paired in future rounds, please go to your dashboard and click the red "Drop" button.

Missed Check In: If you miss a check in by mistake, you can still play the round if your opponent agrees to battle. Contact a Judge to record the result of your match. However, if you missed a check-in and then are entirely inactive on Limitless and the Discord server for the whole round, you will be dropped from the tournament.

Player Autonomy: Each player is expected to use their own Pocket account to play (it should match the "in-game name" from your registration) and their own Discord account to communicate. Account sharing and/or the use of multiple accounts are prohibited.

Family Friendly Community: We welcome players of all ages. Please conduct yourself appropriately and keep discussions polite. Inappropriate content in the form of usernames, language used in chat, or any other context is subject to removal from the event.

Staff Rulings: Tournament staff has the authority to take any actions and make rulings consistent with the spirit of the game and in the best interest of fair play.

Need Help?: If you have any questions or concerns during the event, use the "Request a Judge" button here on Limitless or get in touch with @Tournament Staff on Discord. Since this is a flexible schedule event, please allow a few hours for a response.
