Tournament Information and Rules
1. Game Platform
This tournament will be played using Pokémon Trading Card Game Live (Pokémon TCG Live / PTCGL).
Players must ensure that Pokémon TCG Live is installed, accessible, and ready for online play before the tournament begins.
2. Format
This tournament will use the Standard format.
Cards that are legal in the Standard format on Pokémon TCG Live at the time of the tournament may be used.
3. Tournament Structure
The tournament will use the following structure:
- Best-of-3 matches
- Three fixed rounds of Swiss
- No Top Cut
- 50 minutes per round
The first player to win two games wins the match.
4. Match Points
Match points will be awarded as follows:
- Win: 3 points
- Draw: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
Players with the same number of match points will be ranked according to the standings and tiebreaker calculations used by Limitless.
The tournament staff will not normally alter the standings generated by Limitless.
5. Deck Lists
Players must submit their deck list through Limitless by the stated deadline.
Deck lists will remain hidden during the tournament.
Deck changes are not permitted after the submission deadline. Players must use a deck identical to their submitted deck list in every match and game of the tournament.
6. Tournament Check-In
Tournament check-in will open 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
The check-in deadline is five minutes before the scheduled start time.
Players who do not complete tournament check-in by the deadline may be removed from the tournament.
7. Match Check-In
Players must complete match check-in on Limitless within five minutes of the beginning of each round.
A player who does not complete match check-in within five minutes may receive a match loss for that round.
If an opponent does not appear, players must not submit a result on their own. They must call a judge as soon as possible.
A player who fails to participate in two consecutive rounds will be dropped from the tournament.
8. Communication
Participation in Discord is not required.
Players should normally use the Limitless match chat to communicate with their opponent.
Communication during the tournament must generally be conducted in English.
Japanese may be used in the match chat only when both players are able to communicate clearly in Japanese.
If a language issue makes it difficult to continue the match, confirm a ruling, or verify the match result, players must call a judge as soon as possible.
9. Choosing Who Goes First
For Game 1, the player going first will be determined through the normal Pokémon TCG Live procedure.
For Game 2 and Game 3, the player who lost the previous game chooses which player will go first.
If the players select the wrong player to go first, they must stop the game immediately and inform their opponent.
If the error is discovered before either player has played a card during the first turn, the players must confirm the correct first player and restart the game with the correct selection.
If the error is discovered after either player has played a card, the players must not restart the game on their own. They must call a judge immediately. The judge will review the game state and determine the appropriate ruling.
Players must not continue a game after knowingly discovering that the wrong player went first.
10. Round Time
Each round will have a time limit of 50 minutes.
The round timer will be displayed on Limitless. Players must begin their match promptly after the round starts.
Limitless will not automatically resolve unfinished matches when time expires.
11. End-of-Round Procedure
If a game is still in progress when time is called, the player whose turn is currently in progress will take the first of the remaining turns.
Each player will receive two turns in total, including the turn that was in progress when time was called.
For example, if time is called during Player A’s turn, the remaining turns will be played as follows:
- Player A’s current turn
- Player B’s turn
- Player A’s turn
- Player B’s turn
If the game ends during these turns, the result of that game will be included in the match result.
If the game does not end by the conclusion of the remaining turns, that game will be treated as a tie. Neither player will receive a game win for that game.
The match result will then be determined based on the number of completed game wins:
- If one player has more game wins, that player wins the match.
- If both players have the same number of game wins, the match is a draw.
Examples:
- One player has one game win and the current game ends in a tie: that player wins the match 1–0.
- Both players have one game win and the current game ends in a tie: the match is a draw.
- Neither player has a game win and the current game ends in a tie: the match is a draw.
Players may not begin a new game after time has been called.
12. Conceding
Players may concede a game.
A player who concedes must use the concede function in Pokémon TCG Live.
A concession communicated only through chat may not be treated as an official game result.
After a concession, both players must confirm the result displayed in Pokémon TCG Live and report the correct result on Limitless.
13. Intentional Draws
Intentional draws are not permitted.
Players may not agree to report a match as a draw without playing the match.
Players may not arrange a win, loss, or draw for the purpose of manipulating standings, match points, or tiebreakers.
14. Selecting the Wrong Deck
Players must use a deck identical to the deck list submitted on Limitless.
If a player accidentally selects a different deck, the procedure depends on when the error is discovered.
If the Error Is Discovered Before Placing the First Pokémon in the Active Spot
The player must immediately inform their opponent that the wrong deck was selected.
The game must be stopped, and the player must select the deck that matches the submitted deck list and restart the game.
The original selection of which player goes first must remain unchanged.
The players must report the deck-selection error to a judge before beginning the restarted game.
If the Error Is Discovered After Placing the First Pokémon in the Active Spot
If a player discovers after placing the first Pokémon in the Active Spot that they are using a deck different from their submitted deck list, that player receives a game loss for the current game.
The player must immediately take the following actions:
- Inform the opponent through chat that the wrong deck was selected.
- Report the issue to a judge.
- Concede the game using the Pokémon TCG Live concede function.
- Select the deck matching the submitted deck list.
- Continue to the next game if applicable.
Players must not continue playing after discovering that they selected the wrong deck.
Repeatedly selecting the wrong deck during the same match, or intentionally using a deck different from the submitted list, may result in additional penalties, including a match loss or disqualification.
15. Game Errors and Disconnections
If a player is unable to continue a game because of a Pokémon TCG Live error, freeze, disconnection, or other technical issue, that player will normally receive a game loss.
If Pokémon TCG Live displays a winner, that displayed result will normally be accepted.
Players should preserve as much evidence as possible, including:
- A screenshot of the error message
- A screenshot of the result screen
- A screen recording
- The game state immediately before the issue occurred
- The approximate time the issue occurred
When a technical issue occurs, players must call a judge through Limitless before submitting or confirming the result.
If both players experience a problem at the same time, if a widespread Pokémon TCG Live outage is suspected, or if it is unclear which player experienced the issue, the judge will review the available evidence and statements from both players before issuing a ruling.
16. Replaying a Game After a Technical Issue
A game affected by a technical issue may be voided and replayed from the beginning only if all of the following conditions are met:
- Both players agree to replay the game.
- A judge approves the replay.
- The applicable remaining-time requirement is met.
The remaining-time requirements are:
- Issue during Game 1: at least 40 minutes remaining
- Issue during Game 2: at least 30 minutes remaining
- Issue during Game 3: at least 20 minutes remaining
If a replay is approved, the previous board state, hands, decks, discard piles, and Prize cards will not be reconstructed. The players must begin a completely new game.
The original selection of which player goes first must remain unchanged.
The round timer will not normally be paused or extended because of the replay.
If the remaining-time requirement is not met, or if the judge does not approve the replay, the player who was unable to continue will normally receive a game loss.
17. Reporting Results
After each game, both players must confirm the result before reporting it on Limitless.
For a Best-of-3 match, the result of each individual game must be reported accurately.
Before submitting the final match result, both players must confirm:
- The match winner
- The result of each game
- The final game score
- Whether any game ended in a tie
If an incorrect result is entered, or if the two players submit conflicting results, they must call a judge before the next round begins.
Submitting a false result or reporting a result without confirming it with the opponent is prohibited.
18. Streaming, Spectating, and Outside Assistance
Streaming a tournament match is prohibited.
Real-time spectating by a third party is also prohibited.
Players may not receive information or assistance from another player or third party during a match, including:
- Advice about gameplay decisions
- Suggestions about which cards or actions to use
- Information about the opponent’s deck, hand, or decisions
- Information obtained from the opponent’s stream, screen share, or spectator
- Any other information that could affect in-game decisions
Receiving assistance through screen sharing, voice calls, livestream comments, private messages, or any other method is prohibited.
19. Prohibited Conduct
The following conduct is prohibited:
- Entering the tournament with multiple accounts
- Participating under another person’s identity
- Receiving outside assistance or information during a match
- Ghosting or stream sniping
- Intentionally delaying the progress of a match
- Intentionally exploiting a bug or malfunction in Pokémon TCG Live
- Reporting a false match result
- Submitting a result without the opponent’s confirmation
- Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing conduct toward opponents or tournament staff
- Arranging match results in order to manipulate standings or match points
- Any other conduct that interferes with the fair and orderly operation of the tournament
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, penalties may include a warning, game loss, match loss, disqualification, or other action determined by the tournament staff.
20. Dropping from the Tournament
Players who wish to leave the tournament must use the official drop function provided by Limitless.
Sending a message to the tournament staff does not by itself complete the drop process.
If a player drops after pairings for the next round have already been created, the opponent may receive a bye or match win for that round.
Players should complete the drop process before pairings for the next round are generated.
21. Pokémon TCG Live Maintenance or Widespread Outages
If Pokémon TCG Live maintenance, a server outage, or another issue affecting a significant number of players occurs, the tournament staff will provide a separate announcement.
Depending on the scale and duration of the issue, the tournament staff may take one or more of the following actions:
- Delay the start of a round
- Pause the round timer
- Replay a round
- Change the tournament schedule
- Suspend or cancel the tournament
Issues affecting only an individual player’s internet connection, device, application, or account will be treated separately from a widespread Pokémon TCG Live outage.
Until an official announcement is made, players must not independently replay a game or report a result. They should preserve the current game state and any available evidence.
22. Judge Calls
Players must call a judge through Limitless and must not attempt to resolve the issue on their own when any of the following occurs:
- The opponent does not appear.
- The reported results do not match.
- The wrong player was selected to go first.
- The wrong deck was selected.
- A Pokémon TCG Live error or disconnection occurs.
- The players disagree about the end-of-round procedure.
- A possible rules violation has occurred.
- Any other issue cannot be resolved by the players alone.
Players must not replay a game or finalize a match result without judge approval when a ruling is required.
23. Final Rulings
Any technical issue, result discrepancy, unusual circumstance, or situation not specifically covered by these rules will be reviewed by the tournament staff or a judge.
The final ruling will be based on the available evidence, the game state, and the explanations provided by both players.
All participants must follow the final decisions made by the tournament staff and judges.
24.Use of Tournament Data
Tournament results and submitted deck-list data may be stored, aggregated, and used by the tournament organizer for:
- Metagame analysis
- Card-usage statistics
- Deck performance statistics
- Matchup analysis
- Tournament reports
- Articles and other related content
Statistical information may be published in an aggregated or anonymized format.
