Pokémon Champions VGC Tournament Rules

Welcome to our Pokémon Champions VGC Tournament hosted on Limitless!

This event is meant to be competitive, fair, and fun for all players. By joining this tournament, you agree to follow the rules below and to treat all opponents, judges, and staff with respect.

Format

Game: Pokémon Champions Format: VGC Doubles Ruleset: Current official Pokémon Champions VGC Regulation Set Current Regulation: Regulation Set M-B Match Style: Best-of-3 Tournament Structure: Swiss rounds with Top Cut, if applicable Platform: Pokémon Champions Team Size: 6 Pokémon registered, 4 Pokémon selected each game

Pokémon Champions VGC battles are played as Double Battles. Each player brings a Battle Team of 6 Pokémon and selects 4 Pokémon for each game. Standard in-game timers are 90 seconds Team Preview, 45 seconds per move, 7 minutes player time, and 20 minutes game time.

Current Regulation: Regulation Set M-B

This tournament will use Regulation Set M-B unless tournament staff announces otherwise before the event begins.

Under Regulation Set M-B:

  • Only Pokémon legal under Regulation Set M-B may be used.
  • Mega Evolution is allowed only for Pokémon permitted under the current regulation.
  • Players may only use legal moves, legal Abilities, and legal held items.
  • Duplicate held items are not allowed.
  • Duplicate Pokémon species are not allowed, meaning two Pokémon with the same National Pokédex number may not be used on the same team.

Players are responsible for making sure their team is legal before the tournament starts.

Team Submission

Players must submit their team before the tournament deadline through Limitless.

Team submissions must match the team used in-game. Once the tournament starts, players may not change:

  • Pokémon species or form
  • Abilities
  • Held items
  • Moves
  • Stat Alignment
  • Any other required team information

If your submitted team does not match your in-game team, you may receive a game loss, match loss, or disqualification depending on the situation.

Open Team Sheet

This tournament will use Open Team Sheets.

Players must make their team information available to their opponent as required by the tournament page or staff instructions. Open team list information may include Pokémon species/forms, Abilities, held items, moves, and Stat Alignment.

Players may not intentionally hide, misrepresent, or change team information after submission.

Match Procedure

Players are responsible for contacting their opponent on Limitless or the tournament Discord, if one is being used.

Before starting a match:

  1. Confirm you are playing the correct opponent.
  2. Confirm the match is being played under the correct ruleset.
  3. Use the team submitted for the tournament.
  4. Play the match as Best-of-3 unless staff states otherwise.

After the match, the winning player must report the result on Limitless. Players should keep screenshots or recordings in case there is a dispute.

No-Shows

Players must be ready to play when the round begins.

If your opponent does not respond or is not ready within the posted round time limit, contact a judge or tournament staff. Do not report a win unless staff approves it or the tournament rules clearly allow it.

Repeated no-shows or delays may result in penalties or removal from the tournament.

Disconnections

If a disconnect happens, both players should take a screenshot or provide proof of the game state.

Tournament staff will decide whether the game should be replayed, awarded to a player, or handled another way based on the situation. Intentional disconnecting is considered cheating and may result in disqualification.

Sportsmanship & Respect

All players are expected to act respectfully at all times.

The following behavior is not allowed:

  • Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks
  • Slurs, hate speech, or discriminatory comments
  • Threats or intimidation
  • Excessive trash talk
  • Rage messages or disrespectful DMs
  • Mocking another player’s skill level, team choice, or mistakes
  • Arguing with judges or staff in a hostile way
  • Any behavior that makes the event unsafe or unwelcoming

A simple “good luck” before the match and “good game” after the match goes a long way.

Disrespectful behavior may result in a warning, game loss, match loss, removal from the event, or ban from future tournaments.

Cheating & Fair Play

Cheating is strictly prohibited.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using an illegal team
  • Changing teams after submission
  • Misreporting results
  • Intentionally disconnecting
  • Using outside software or modified clients
  • Colluding with another player
  • Stream sniping, if applicable
  • Lying to staff during a dispute

Players are expected to compete honestly and follow all Pokémon Champions and Limitless rules.

Judge & Staff Decisions

Tournament staff have final say on disputes, penalties, and rule interpretations.

Players should remain respectful when communicating with judges. If you disagree with a ruling, explain your concern calmly and provide any screenshots, recordings, or relevant information.

Final Reminder

This tournament is meant to be competitive, but also fun and welcoming. Bring your best team, respect your opponent, and play fairly.

Good luck, have fun, and may the best Trainer win!
