TurboBlaze GLC Async Challenge
Do you want to compete in online TBZ tournaments but life is getting in your way? Introducing a new flexible tournament series hosted by TurboBlaze & our partners at Collector’s Connection in Duluth, MN! Links at the bottom are provided so you can learn more about the TurboBlaze Community Server on Discord, TurboBlaze GLC Channel on Youtube, as well as Collector’s Connection’s webpage where you can find out all about their store, events and so much more!
The Rundown
4 rounds (subject to change based on participation), each round is played over the course of (roughly) 7 days, starting @ 5PM EST on a given day and ending at @12PM EST 7 days later.
Format is Gym Leader Challenge (link at the bottom for information on GLC Format)
Each round is an untimed best-of 3 match. Each week, a new round will begin and players will have an effective 7 full days to coordinate a time with their opponents to complete their match.
Rounds start once all results of the previous round have been finalized.
Failure to complete a match in time will result in a DOUBLE LOSS and automatic drop from the event.
If a player can show to our judges adequate proof of effort to coordinate a match with an opponent who does not make similar effort, then the reporting player will be awarded the match win and the other player will be automatically dropped from the event.
Rulings followed according to Pokemon TCG Rulebook (see more below in “Rules”)
Each round win is worth 1 point, only wins and losses (no draws).
The winner at the end of the 4 rounds, as well as anyone who finishes undefeated (no losses or draws) will receive a badge for the type they played in the event
Legal Card Pool
GLC Format - currently BW Base to Phantasmal Flames, GLC Ban List applies
Discord
Games are to be played in the TurboBlaze Community Server. Your round’s pairing number will correspond to the table voice channel to use for each round. There will be judges available for each event at all times – if there are any issues, questions or concerns, please contact a judge within the TBS Community Discord server.
Prizing
In addition to badges earned for each tournament, top finishes will be rewarded with exclusive prizes, including special cards, team merchandise, and much more! Prizing will vary each event, so stay tuned for each announcement within the community discord!
This Month’s Prizes
To be announced! Stay tuned for an announcement in our community discord server!
Badges
Earning badges during the Monthly Async Challenge will also be used to determine qualification for a special tournament at the end of the season – more to come on the special invitational tournament!
Proxies, Altered & Foreign Cards
Proxies, Altered & Foreign Cards are allowed as long as they are indistinguishable from other cards – this means not marked or could be picked out from the deck due to thickness or transparency of the card back.
Proxies must be in color (no black and white). For proxies, using the Limitless Proxy Printing Tool is strongly encouraged!
For custom/altered art cards, only one custom full art proxy is allowed per deck.
If using Foreign or World Championship cards, we recommend using opaque sleeves to ensure the card backs are indistinguishable.
Re-writing a card proxy onto a different card is not allowed and will result in a match loss
Rules
Please attempt to coordinate matches with round opponents in a timely manner to avoid any issue with completing the round in time.
While we are attempting to stick to a hard line of 1 week per round, we understand that emergencies happen. Please reach out to a judge if there is any issue that would interrupt a scheduled time to complete a match; in some instances, a brief time extension may be granted. Alternatively, if an opponent is unable to play a match but would like to continue the rest of the tournament, it is recommended that player concede that match so as to avoid being dropped from the event for failing to complete it.
Please, no cheating – it’s lame and will not be tolerated. We’re here to enjoy the game we love. You cheat, break the rules, angle shoot, etc., you’re outta here!
*Publicly announcing when you are playing a match for the event is not required but strongly encouraged so players will know not to interrupt gameplay, as well as making any judges available aware in case they are needed.
Recording matches is not required but strongly encouraged in the event of any concerns for cheating or simply to help with any challenging judge calls.
If a judge is needed during a match, please message in the community discord under the Async event channel using the judge prompt. Please know we may not be available right away but will try to respond as soon as possible.
Please, be kind to each other! We understand competition can lead to frustration but let’s not take it out on each other. Aggressive and hostile behavior, bullying, discrimination, etc., during events will not be tolerated
Please maintain a clean board state ON CAMERA – this means your hand, discard pile, deck and prizes must ALWAYS remain on screen! This includes when shuffling!
It is a standard on Webcam to always cut your deck after shuffling your deck either when appropriate, either during or at the end of turn. Players may request a cut from their opponent after shuffling occurs as maintained in the Pokemon TCG Rulebook.
Please remember judges have sole discretion over decision making and all judge decisions are final.
Match results are to be reported in Limitless.
