King of VGC – VGC 2020 [Week 8]

Hello Trainers! We’re back for Week 7 of the King of VGC circuit — and this time, we’re diving into one of the most unusual and defining formats in modern VGC history: VGC 2020 ⚡🐲

This format marked the first year of Pokémon Sword & Shield VGC, introducing Dynamax, removing Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, and reshaping competitive play almost overnight.

🌍 A Year Without Worlds

Unlike most VGC seasons, VGC 2020 had no World Championships due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the format lived primarily through online competitions, regional-level events, and community-run tournaments.

With no Worlds to define a single “best team,” VGC 2020 became a player-driven format — shaped by constant iteration, online ladders, and evolving counterplay rather than one final championship meta.
