📖 A Look Back at VGC 2018
VGC 2018 is remembered as one of the most balanced, creative, and skill-intensive formats in modern VGC.
This was the golden age of:
- Mega Evolutions and carefully timed Z-Moves
- Metagame staples like Incineroar, the Tapus, Landorus-T, Kartana, and Gastrodon
- Flexible archetypes such as Tailwind balance, Trick Room, Rain, Psyspam, and Snarl control
Despite having many top-tier threats, almost every major playstyle had tools and counterplay, which kept the format fresh and competitive across the entire season.
It was also the year Paul Ruiz became the first Latin American World Champion, piloting a Tapu Koko / Mega Salamence / Snorlax core supported by Incineroar, Gastrodon, and Kartana — a team that showcased patient board control, smart positioning, and disciplined endgames. 🇪🇨🔥
Week after week, VGC 2018 continues to deliver creativity, intensity, and high-skill gameplay — making it a perfect spotlight format for our circuit.
