1v1 Best of Three - Normal Rules (Six Pokémon)
Welcome to the Z-A Battle Arena's Third Tournament, and first of Z-A Battle Arena Season 2! To join this tournament, sign up on Limitless, upload your open team sheet and join the Z-A Battle Arena Discord to get the @Tournament Player Role (https://discord.gg/Gsnz6PAXYp) so that you know when Rounds go live and any delays that could occur!
Unless specified here, every mechanic in Z-A is fair game (Plus Moves, Item Pick Ups, Held Items etc.)
Open Team Sheet:
Include the Pokémon with their movesets and held items. EVs/IVs and Natures aren't required. Teamsheet errors will lead in a Round Loss if corrected, and a game loss if not corrected.
All 6 Pokémon must be set as a Battle Team via the Box, not put in your Party. (This allows you to adjust your team when connected in a Private Battle Room without having to leave.)
Lead pokemon can be swapped between rounds as long as you're using the same 6 Pokémon in the Battle Team, with the exact items and moves associated with them on your team sheet.
The player with the most KOs in the results screen gains a win, if all 6 of a player’s Pokémon are KO'd during the match that player gains a loss. If tied, it counts as a win for both players. Keep playing until the number of wins aren't tied.
All rules are undebatable during the Tournament, no "gentleman's agreements" during the Tournament, if you believe you have a improvement to the format, bring it into our Discord and debate us there, maybe it'll become a permanent feature.
Clauses:
These are stipulations to follow when engaging in a 1v1 match in the ‘Z-A Battle Arena’ server. Failure to follow these in any capacity results in the associated penalty as soon as it occurs.
Mega Evolution Clause:
Only one Pokémon in your team can repeatedly Mega Evolve in a round. This doesn’t limit the number of mega stones your team can hold.
Knockout Clause:
Fainted Pokémon are considered KO’d, they cannot be used again for the rest of the round. If you accidentally lead with a Knocked Out Pokemon after respawning, you can avoid a Penalty by burning a switch to get in a conscious Pokemon. If you are out of switches or in battle, then the Penalty comes into effect.
Streaming Clause:
Semifinals and Finals of a Tournament need to be streamed by one of the players in our Discords Tournament VC, or observed by a Judge who only uses a Watchdog and stays a significant distance away from the action. They may also stream the Match in the VC.
Penalties:
The listed punishments aim to promote fair play if any clauses were to be broken, regardless of accidents.
Failure to abide by the penalties during a tournament results in a disqualification.
Mega Evolution Penalty:
Immediate round loss if you Mega Evolve two different Pokémon during the round.
Knockout Penalty:
You cannot switch out your current Pokemon and cannot attack the opponent’s Pokémon, the opponent is automatically given the free KO. Signal the opponent to KO the Pokémon again by spinning your trainer in place.
KO Stall Penalty:
If the opponent is found stalling a player’s Knockout Penalty to waste time, they automatically lose that round. Save a clip by holding the screen capture button on your Nintendo Switch controller if this happens, then show a judge or tournament organizer as proof. This doesn't apply if the Knockout Penalty occurs during the last 15 seconds of the round, as the point is added up post-mortem when registering wins/losses.
