🌲Welcome to C.P.U.'s Standard Tournament #6🌲
Control Players Unite is a Pokémon TCG YouTube channel and Discord dedicated to family-friendly entertainment and welcoming all players of good will, not just control players!
JOURNEY TOGETHER IS LEGAL!
Tournament Structure
- Standard format
- Open decks
- BO1
- 30-minute Swiss rounds
- Top 8 traditional cut (unless we have a really small number, then top 4 cut)
Check-in
Check-in is mandatory before the tournament and before each round. For Swiss rounds, you have 5 minutes to check-in and begin your round. Failure to check-in results in a round loss.
Bugs
PTCGL
We understand PTCGL has plenty of bugs. If your game bugs mid-match--including the first turn--it is unfortunately a consequence of playing on the client (e.g., you cannot select a basic off of a Buddy-Buddy Poffin). The player with the bug issue receives an automatic loss.
A disconnection is also an automatic loss, except if the game disconnects on the loading screen or during initial set up. Please call a judge and have both players confirm and try challenging again. This only applies while setting up. The game won't be official until the first turn starts. Limit of 2 tries total. If the game is still not setting up after the 2nd try, it's a loss for the player with the bug issue.
Limitless
Players are reporting bugs with the check-in page in not being able to check-in as well as the non-refreshment of information.
It is every player's responsibility to refresh the Limitless page for round check-ins and updates. (Sometimes rounds end early and we do not want to wait 10+ minutes for the next one to start.) Limitless auto-updates the pages for some and not for others. It is the player's responsibility to check-in on time.
If you are having check-in bugs, you must call a judge to inform so that we know you're having a problem.
Sportsmanship
Basic respect is expected of all players at all times. If a player is found to lie or else deliberately mislead judges, it may result in a permanent banning from all future tournaments.
If a player recognizes the wrong list was chosen during in-game set-up, concede and please call a judge to make them aware of the situation and resend the game request with the correct list. Any coin flip decisions stay the same. If the wrong list recognized during the first turn, however, it is a game loss because the match started.
Also, if a player has the win just take the win--no need to perform all sorts of useless actions, though such things are not necessarily ban-worthy.
Incorrect List
If a player sees that the list displayed and the list being played are different (e.g., a different number of a particular card), please alert a judge and provide visual evidence via streaming or a photo in the Discord. The player with the wrong list receives an automatic loss.
BEWARE: There is a bug that when exporting from PTCGL the wrong deck list is copied. Make sure you update your lists before the tournament starts!
Ties
Auto-ties are called at time unless a requested time extension occurs before the start of the match due to set-up difficulties. Having a prize lead at time does not make one the winner.
No Shows
If a player does not check-in for 2 rounds in a row that player will be dropped.
In-Game Timer
The in-game timer must be kept on at all times to track slow play. The first time it is caught results in a warning, the second time an auto-drop from the tournament.
Slow Play
If slow play is suspected, please call a judge immediately. Any kind of slow play or taking advantage of the clock will result in a game loss. Slow play is incredibly hard to judge online, so please be ready with screenshots, streaming on Discord, and/or an 80-second recording of your game state. We prefer streaming on Discord if you suspect your opponent is slow playing maliciously but understand it is not an option for everyone. You must request a slow play judge call before your game ends.
Screenshot
It is helpful to take a screenshot of your victory post-match in case there is a dispute about your win.
Prizing
- 1st: 4 random codes
- 2nd: 3 random codes
- 3rd: 2 random codes
- 4th: 1 random code

Discord
Joining the Discord is not mandatory, though helpful in case there are announcements regarding the tournament such as new round pairings. The number rounds are determined by the number of ready players (i.e., those checked-in *and* list-submitted) at the tournament's allotted start time.Rounds
- 4-16 players = 4 Swiss Rounds
- 16-25 players = 5 Swiss Rounds
- 26+ players = 6 Swiss Rounds
