We encourage all matches to be streamed, especially top cut matches. You may do so in the discord server or through any other means. It is recommended to have a delay on your stream to avoid stream sniping or any other disadvantages if using a streaming service such as twitch. Any advantages gained by streaming, such as receiving assistance from your audience, can lead to penalties.
Phase 1 Swiss rounds are Best of 1, 30 minutes, with 5 minute check in timer.
Top Cut will be Single Elimination, best of 3 with 50 minute timer and 5 minute check in timer.
Judge Call FAQs
It is the players responsibility to Check In prior to each match - failure to do so will result in an automatic Game Loss. If you are late to check in your opponent may elect to play by calling a judge and requesting a reset.
ALWAYS take a screenshot of your victory screen in case of a dispute. If you leave a game without explicitly stating "time is over, this is a tie" or something similar, it could be perceived as a concession.
Please keep communication with your opponent on Limitless. Make an effort at clear and concise communication. This shows us you made an effort with time stamps as proof if any issue arises.
Please use the judge call feature in Limitless FIRST, BEFORE posting in the discord. This gives us accurate time stamps for rulings, even if we don't respond right away.
Significant delays (more than 5 minutes) caused by a single player in starting a match will result in no ties at time and instead the offending player will be given a game loss at time (please call a judge at time). You have 5 minutes to check in and we expect all matches to have begun by 20:00. IRL Tournaments give you a 50 minute timer for 3 matches. We want to encourage everyone to actually try to play their match.
PTCGL Crashes/Freezes, etc is a LOSS
Decklist Errors During An ACTIVE Game is a LOSS. Please provide a screenshot as proof of the decklist error.
If you have selected the wrong deck at the beginning of the game and it is caught before turns are taken and we are still within the check in time the game can be reset and a warning will be issued. After the check in time you may reset the game but in the event the match goes to time and results in a tie we will award the win to the opponent. Please call a judge at time.
We cannot do anything about PTCGL Bugs.
If you suspect slow play, PLEASE call a Judge with at LEAST 5 MINUTES remaining and be prepared to live stream your match for us to view in real time. We cannot make a slow play call based on recordings or screenshots. we MUST be able to see the game live and in action to make an accurate call and need ample time to do so.
If you call a judge with no explanation or description of the problem your request will be cleared.
Unsportsmanlike conduct is not permitted or accepted. Based on the severity you may be issued a warning. In extreme cases we reserve the right to issue a game loss and/or remove you from the tournament as well as ban you from future tournaments.
Post your screenshots for judges in #judge-calls in The Smart Cafe discord. If you do not see this channel you will need to give yourself the Smart Series role. Screenshots posted elsewhere may get lost.
PLEASE DO NOT PASTE YOUR GAME LOG! It is entirely too much for us to go through to look for the issue.
If your opponent is in the chat and actively communicating with you but does not show checked in you may need to refresh your page. Only call a judge if you cannot check in.
If your opponent does not check in on time you do not need to call a judge; Limitless will automatically award you the win.
If a match goes to time it will automatically be declared a Tie, you do not need to call a judge unless instructed otherwise for a prior ruling. All games must be reported on Limitless BEFORE time has been called for the round otherwise they will be a Tie. You can concede to your opponent to give them the Win, but if a result hasn't been recorded before time is called, it will stay a Tie.
If you accidentally click the wrong result you can click it again yourself to remove it and report it correctly. There is no need to call a judge to change the result unless there is a dispute.
If you and your opponent agree to an ID you will need to call a judge to record the draw.
All games must be reported on Limitless
Cursing, Homophobia, Xenophobia, Transphobia, Racism, etc towards any opponent will result in an immediate DQ and ban from future events.
