Hello all,
One of the great aspects of Base-Fossil is that the game continues to evolve despite an unchanging cardpool. However, recent community discourse has brought into question the cardpool, regarding which promos should be legal in the format. Historically, modern-day Base-Fossil has included promos 1-9. This is simple and easy, but it is time for this to change! For this tournament, promos 1-15 (minus promo 12 Eevee) will be legal, as they were all released before Team Rocket in the US, making this the first true Base-Fossil tournament since 2000!
There are 4 additional cards legal in this tournament, which are Meowth (WBSP 10), Mewtwo (WBSP 12), Venusaur (WBSP 13) and Cool Porygon (WBSP 15). Mewtwo (WBSP 14) is legal as well, but is functionally identical to the already legal Mewtwo (WBSP 3). To accomodate the expanded cardpool, the tournament will be played on TCG One under Base-Rocket but only cards from Base Set, Jungle, Fossil and promos 1-15 (except 12) will be allowed.
Rules:
All matches will be played on TCG ONE (https://tcgone.net/). To accommodate the additional cards, the tournament is listed on Limitless as a Base-Rocket, and will be played using Base-Rocket on TCG One, but only cards from Base Set, Jungle, Fossil and promos 1-15 (except 12) will be allowed. Promo #12 Eevee is NOT legal in this tournament.
The tournament will be closed decklist, so people will only be able to see your deck archetype (as auto-detected by Limitless) until the tournament concludes, when all lists will be made public. You still need to submit your decklist before the tournament begins.
The format consists of 4 swiss rounds, then a 4-player best-of-3 top cut.
