Tournament Rules

Structure:

  • Swiss System: You will be paired with a new opponent each round and your goal is to earn as many wins/points as possible.
    • A match win is worth 3 points.
    • A match loss or draw is worth 1 pts.
  • Top Cut: At the end of the Swiss period, the top players will advance to a single-elimination rounds/bracket. Determined automatically by Limiitless.
  • Best-of-3: All matches in this tournament are best-of-three games. This means you will play up to three games against each opponent; the first player to win two games is declared the match winner.

Deck Rules:

All currently available Pokémon TCG Pocket cards are allowed. ( EXCEPT EX CARDS )

1 Deck for the duration of the tournament

Tournament Check-In Period:

  • Check-In will open at 9:00am on Jan 4 Saturday ( GMT+8 ).
  • Participants should be present in the Facebook Group Community Chat or Discord by 9:30am (GMT+8).
  • Always be on your Dashboard. This is where you can access your Round Pairings and Match Chatbox.
  • 9:30am onwards: You should coordinate the Match Password with your opponent and begin play within that period. Players who are late and/or non-responsive may incur a penalty including match loss and possibly removal from the event.
  • Late Tournament Check-in: Registered Players can still participate in Round 3. Missed rounds will be marked as a loss.

Round Check-In Period:

  • Within 5mins of Tournament Start, players must click on the Yellow Check-In button at the start of their round matches.
  • Check-In Timeout: Automatic Loss is given to player/s who did not Check-In.
  • Checked-In but No-Show/AFK: Recent active player wins round if 10 mins before the round timer is up and opponent is no-show/AFK.
  • Players should be prepared for the next round immediately after finishing their current match. Round times may be adjusted if all matches conclude early.
  • By chance you arrived on time within 5mins of Round Start, but there was an issue with the Check-in Button(missing or unclickable), this is out of the organizer's hands. Be sure to take a screenshot of the page so we can also report it to Limitless. No proof = no match reset.

Gameplay Rules:

  • Make Reading A Habit!

  • Be Punctual: Respect everone's time

  • Screenshots: Required for issue/dispute claims(in-game and Limitless platform), and Victory Proof ( Card of the Game page ). Keep it until the end of the tournament. Only upload when backing up a claim, or when in Finals (Your Victory page will be included in the winner announcement).

  • Issues that happened BEFORE pressing Start Battle: Restart match.

  • Issues that happened AFTER pressing Start Battle: the player with the issue must take the loss. (Cards faced down before pressing Start Battle will not show up on Battle Log)

  • In-game name: should match the one entered in Limitless and used in TCG Pocket app, otherwise 1 game point will be given to opponent. Check when registering, do not rely on the organizer to change it for you.

  • Incorrect Deck: Do not press 'Start Battle'. Restart. Deck used in-game should always match with the one submitted in Limitless. Using the wrong deck and Start Battle has already been pressed = DQ.

  • Game Loss Due to Connectivity Issues: Each game (Start Battle is pressed) initiated should count toward the match outcome. If a player’s game becomes unresponsive due to internet or app issues, that player should accept the game loss. Connection Issues mid-game, the player with the victory screen wins.

  • Loading / Unresponsive screen during passcode search: Start Battle is not pressed = Do not continue. Restart the match.

  • Wrong matchup due to passcode too common or just by coincidence: Use autogenerated passcode, make sure opponent's in-game name is the same with the one you're paired in Limitless. Screenshot and Restart code search.

  • Time Limit: Limitless' Round Timer. Games will count as a tie when the round timer runs out. Screenshots are required if a Best-of-Three match was completed but scores were not submitted before the timer expired. Request a Judge and prepare to submit the screenshots to Discord.

  • Tie resolution: Ties are worth 1 point. Matches that end in a tie due to the round timer expiring will be considered a tie. For intentional draw, request a judge. Both players should agree. Coercing your opponent to draw is not allowed.

  • Disputes & Issues: Any disputes and issues should be resolved by the tournament official and should be backed by screenshots.

  • Stream Sniping: Players are allowed to stream their games. Steamers must use a delay to deter stream-sniping. Using an advantage from a stream, be it seeing someone's hand or getting outside advice may lead to penalties. Proven stream sniping will lead to DQ

  • Emergency Break: One 5-minute emergency break is allowed in-between Top Cut rounds. To prevent abuse, no further emergency breaks will be permitted after it's used.

  • FINALS Match: If possible, screen-record your best-of-3 final match. This will be included in the announcement of the winner. In addition to the Victory page screenshot.

Sportsmanship and Fair Play:

  • Maintain good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
  • Avoid any disruptive or disrespectful behavior.
  • Do not be an ambidex - someone who joins but doesn't read any of the tournament details.
