Location and Timing

  • The tournament will be held on Friday, November 8th

  • Check in for the tournament will start at 3:00PM Doha Time (GMT+3)

  • Build & Battle box processing, opening, and deckbuilding will start at 4:00PM Doha Time (GMT+3)

  • The first round will start at 4:30PM Doha Time (GMT+3)

Player Requirements

  • Players must buy a Surging Sparks Build & Battle kit in the tournament venue provided by Art of Cardz for 150QR

  • All participating players will receive 3 Surging Sparks packs free of charge to include in their decks and keep.

  • Players need to bring a valid pack of 40 sleeves, with extras for replacement; sleeves will not be sold at the event.

  • It is highly preferable that players bring their own playing accessories (Dice, Playmat, Coin, etc.)

Build & Battle rules (Deckbuilding and Gameplay)

Format

  • Build & Battle: Cards are Strictly limited to whatever is inside the one Build & Battle kit you open during the event as well as the 3 extra packs given, with the exception of infinite Basic energy provided by the organizers.

Deck Building Rules

  • Decks must be exactly 40 cards.

  • There is no limit to the amount of cards you can play with the same name (unless a card specifies it. ex: Radiant Pokémon/Ace Specs). This means that you can play 5 or more "Nest Ball" cards for example, if you pull them.

  • The only cards outside the Build & Battle box that can be used are basic energy.

Setup and Gameplay

  • Setup is done exactly like a standard game of Pokémon TCG, except that only 4 prize cards are set instead of 6.
  • Players play normally as they would in a standard game of Pokémon TCG
  • The win conditions remain the same as a standard game (Prize cards, Empty board of Pokémon, Deck out).

Tournament Structure

  • This tournament will be held in the Swiss structure.

Rounds

  • This tournament will be played round by round, in order; since each round pairings are dependent on the previous round results.

  • For each round, every player will have to play 1 match. (On rare occasions, some players may have a bye on a round, which is a free win).

  • All matches will be played in a 30 minute, Best of 1.

  • The round timer will be one timer running for all players, and when it runs out, all players still playing a game must follow the rules that decide the winner of the game in this case. (Explained in "More Info").

  • The round timer is visible when you click on dashboard during the tournament (before you click on your match).

  • The amount of rounds played will depend on the number of participating players.

What is Swiss?

  • "Swiss" is a tournament structure format where in every round, all players play 1 match without eliminations, regardless of their Win/Loss/Tie record. In every round, each player is paired with a different player equal to, or similar to their current score.

  • After a set amount of rounds, the ranking between players is shown by the score earned in the Swiss phase (Win = 3 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points).

  • Tie breakers of points is determined by calculating "Resistance", which represents how well the opponents of a certain player have done during the same phase.

  • It is important to note that the ranking is all automatically calculated by the LimitlessTCG website and shown online.

Unfinished matches during timeout

  • When the timer goes out as players are playing a match, players have to play 3 more turns before ending the game, regardless of what happens in these turns.

  • The turn of the player playing their turn during the timeout is counted as Turn 0.

  • After the player who is playing turn 0 ends their turn, their opponent plays their turn (Turn 1 of timeout), then back to them (Turn 2 of timeout), then back to the opponent (Turn 3 of timeout).

  • If no winner has been decided after all 3 turns have been completed, The game ends as a tie.

  • If you are facing any issues implementing these rules, call a judge/organizer to help.
