Introducing the first event in the Island Challenge Championship Series!
This will be the start of our upcoming Sun and Moon through Lost Thunder Retro tournament series hosted by the Alolan Archive! Trainers can look forward to a large-scale Island Challenge Trial event being hosted on TCG ONE every quarter, where the Top Cut participants from each tournament will be invited to the Island Challenge Championship, a grand tournament with even grander prizing! Keep reading below for Event Information, Prizing, and more!
Event Information + Tournament Structure
This Island Challenge Trial event will be played as Swiss, Best of 1 Rounds with a Best of 3 Top Cut based on participants. We will be using the TCG ONE simulator for this event, so plan accordingly and familiarize yourself with it before participating. Registration is easy and finding games are even easier, so this should not be a problem. The tournament will be using the in-game timer for the event, which provides 25 minutes per player. However, this is unlikely to reach the full time limit due to the nature of the event but be aware of the website's built in limitations.
All participants who make Top Cut for the event will then play in a bracketed Best of 3 Top Cut to determine the overall event winner. All participants who make Top Cut will be invited to the year end Island Challenge Championship, which will be a Double-Elimination bracket in which players will fight for the Champion Title and extra prizing.
Players must check-in to the tournament AND submit a decklist on Limitless TCG before starting play, lest they be dropped from the event in it's entirety. If you change decks mid-tournament, you will be Disqualified and barred from participating in future events.
Event Prizing
The winner of each Island Challenge Trial will receive a TCGplayer gift card equivalent to $20 USD, while second place will receive one equivalent to $10 USD. All players who make the Top Cut of an Island Challenge Trial will receive an exclusive role in the Discord to commemorate their accomplishment!
If you live outside the U.S. and need to be compensated another manner, I will make it happen - just communicate with me upon completion of the tournaments.
Dates and Times
As stated above, the Island Challenge Championship Series will take place throughout four different Island Challenge Trials, one each quarter, culminating into the final Island Challenge Championship. This Island Challenge Trial event will take place on Sunday, December 1st at 11:00 AM Eastern Time. This should allow as many players to participate as possible. Players participating should plan to spend roughly 3-4 hours playing in the Swiss portion, and 2-3 hours playing in the Top Cut portion.
