The first Juicebox Time Capsule tournament!
After running a poll in Discord with a few hand-selected options, we have landed on the January 2017 format.
For those that didn't play around this time, this was an intriguing era of the game - Power-Up sets brought some much needed upgrades to older titles that gave them everything they needed to compete, the number of releases started to ramp up and the power creep was noticeable in comparison to the year prior. The cut-off point chosen is just before the release of the first Standby Climax.
Prizing
The winner of this tournament will receive their choice from a selection of old Trial Decks and Supplies, more details will come later! (Depending on the winner's location, they may have to contribute to the cost of shipping.)
Tournament Rules and Format
Games will take place over Webcam in our Discord server, so you must be joined and the name you use on Limitless TCG must match your Discord username.
Players will have 40 minutes to find their opponent and finish their game. If your opponent is late by 5 or more minutes, let a member of staff know ASAP so we can award a warning and keep track of the situation. If your opponent is late by 10 minutes, you will automatically be awarded the win. Any players who are late and do not contact a member of staff before the end of a given round will be disqualified.
Once a game has concluded, both players should report the result using the tournament page on Limitless TCG.
Tournaments will consist of Best-of-1 Swiss rounds, the number of rounds are determined by the number of players present when Round 1 starts:
- 4-8 players: 3 rounds
- 9-16 players: 4 rounds
- 17-32 players: 5 rounds
- 33-64 players: 6 rounds
There will also be a Single-Elimination Top Cut phase, the number of players who qualify will be determined by the number of players present when Round 1 starts:
- 4-7 players: No Top Cut phase
- 8-15 players: Top 4
- 16-64 players: Top 8
Deck Construction Rules
Every Japanese Edition release up to and including that of 'TV Anime [Rewrite] Booster Pack' is allowed. Promotional cards released after this window are not allowed. The only exception to this rule is for cards that are functional reprints of cards printed within the allowed window.
Proxies will be allowed but must be approved by a member of staff prior to the start of the tournament. As a guideline, English Edition versions of cards that are legal in Japanese will be allowed by default, and colour-printed proxies will be legal as long as there is no chance of them allowing players to distinguish cards - we suggest having the entire deck printed, placed in front of other cards and double-sleeved if you plan to take this approach.
The following restriction list will be in effect for this tournament:
