Welcome to Budget Build Battles!

A format letting non-rule box cards have their time to shine with prizing courtesy of Good Games Adelaide!
They've got you covered for cards to play IRL too!

Format: TripleB's Budget Build Battles

  • Standard Format

  • No Rule Box cards (Radiant, Ace Spec, EX/V's)

  • Only 2 copies of card with the same name per deck.

Evolution Exception: You may have an additional Basic Pokemon for each stage of evolution it has in your deck. ie: 3-2 lines for Stages 1's, 4-2-2 for Stage 2's. Split evolutions do not allow for an extra basic and this also applies for Item's considered as basic Pokémon like fossils.
Basic Energy's are not named cards and not limited to 2 copies

Tournament Structure

  • Phase 1: 4 Rounds of Swiss BO1 matches, 30 minutes long with 5 mins to Check-In each round. Any games not resolved in this time will be considered ties.

  • Phase 2: Top 4 Single Elimination (may scale with attendance)

  • Wins are worth 3 Points, Ties are Worth 1

  • Please check in before the tournament starts or you may be removed from the tournament. There will also be a 5-minute check-in at the start of each round. If you do not check in, you will automatically lose that round.

  • All games will be played on Pokémon Trading Card Game Live (PTCGL), you may need to restart your game after adding your opponent to your friends list.

  • Deck lists must be submitted and will be open public knowledge.

  • If you get disconnected, you will get a game loss unless still within the check-in timer.

  • It is recommended to screenshot any win or tie upon the conclusion of a game. If you leave a game without explicitly stating "time is over, this is a tie" , it may be considered as conceding.

  • You may stream your personal gameplay on any streaming service but it is recommended to have a delay on your stream to avoid stream sniping. Any advantages gained by streaming, such as receiving assistance from your audience, may lead to a penalty once investigated by a Judge.

  • If the game disconnects while loading or during initial setup, please call a judge and have both players confirm and try challenging again. This only applies during check-in. The game won't be official until the first turn starts.

  • If a player chose's the wrong deck during check-in, please call a judge to make them aware and resend the game request with the correct list. Any coin flip decisions stay the same. Do not restart the game until you confirm with a judge.

  • We will play until there is a stand-alone winner, meaning sometimes the tournament may be cut short by a round.

  • Poor sportsmanship is never okay and may result in a disqualification and/or ban from future tournaments. If slow play is suspected, please call a judge immediately. Any kind of slow play or taking advantage of the clock will result in a game loss. Adaptation to Issues:
We understand that PTCGL has its fair share of issues and frequent bugs. Our team will do our best to adapt to all problems the client may have and will make the best rulings possible.
