Pokémon TCG Live

Welcome to the Crit Cup, a weekly tournament series brought to you by the Liverpool Pokémon TCG community at Crit Hit Game Hub. You may also see us streaming our tournaments live on Twitch - if you stream your games on our Discord server, we may even feature you on the official broadcast!

Tournament Info

  • This is a Standard format, open decklist tournament. All new cards are legal as soon as they release on Pokémon TCG Live, as long as Limitless recognises them.
  • The tournament will consist of a Swiss bracket of 25-minute best-of-1 games. The number of rounds depends on the number of players in the tournament. If we have enough players, there will also be a single elimination untimed best-of-3 top cut for the top 4-8 players.
  • Before the tournament starts, you must submit your decklist and check in on Limitless. Players who do not will be removed when the tournament starts.
  • You must check in on Limitless within the first 5 minutes of each round, or you will receive a game loss (and, for repeat failures, disqualification).
  • If time in the round runs out before a match ends, that match is considered a tie unless one player chooses to concede, or unless otherwise ruled by a judge.
  • You are encouraged to livestream your games online, but you must not receive any help from others during the tournament.
  • We also run an official Twitch livestream for the event (see the links at the bottom of this page). By joining one of the tournament stream channels on our Discord server, you may have your game featured in the official stream. You must remain deafened at all times while in these channels, as the tournament casters will use this channel to cast the game.

Tournament Rules

The below rules exist under the complete discretion of the event staff and judges. Please use common sense! Use the "Call Judge" button within your match dashboard if there is any dispute related to the below points during a game. Depending on the nature of the disagreement, you may need to provide screenshot or video evidence via Discord.

  • Be respectful at all times. Inappropriate behaviour will be warned against or penalised under the discretion of the judges.
  • Abuse of exploits in the game client is strictly prohibited and will result in a game loss or disqualification.
  • You must use the exact decklist you submitted before the start of the tournament throughout the whole tournament. Please set your submitted decklist as your active deck in the game client to avoid any mistakes, as playing the wrong deck will result in a game loss.
  • If a player experiences any hardware or software issues which make the game unstable or unplayable at the very beginning of a match, the match should be restarted. If such issues occur or continue to a later point in the match, the player experiencing the issue will receive a game loss.
  • Games must be played at a reasonable, lively pace. If you believe your opponent is intentionally playing slowly ("slowplaying") to prevent you from winning a game, call a judge immediately. You can share a recording of the game or stream your game on Discord/Twitch as evidence.
  • You must report the result of games accurately. If your opponent does not report accurately, call a judge immediately. Always take a screenshot of the victory screen at the end of a game to ensure you can provide evidence if this happens. Players who intentionally report incorrect scores will be disqualified from the tournament.
  • Both players in a match can choose to intentionally draw at any point during their match by calling a judge and requesting to do so - this ends the match in a tie immediately.
  • Players in the tournament stream channels of our Discord server must remain deafened at all times so that they cannot hear any casters who may join the channel and commentate over their games. You must remain deafened even if you are alone in the channel, as somebody could join at any point.
  • You must not receive any outside help from others during your games. Players (particularly those livestreaming their games) found to be voluntarily receiving outside help (or doing nothing to stop unsolicited advice) will receive a game loss or disqualification.

Tournament Structure

The number of Swiss and single elimination top cut rounds depends on the number of players in the tournament. Thus, the tournament structure may change compared to what you see scheduled on Limitless at the time that you sign up. The exact structure matches that of official Play! Pokémon events, as follows:

  • 4-8 players: 3 Swiss rounds, no top cut
  • 9-12 players: 4 Swiss rounds, top 4 cut
  • 13-20 players: 5 Swiss rounds, top 4 cut
  • 21-32 players: 5 Swiss rounds, top 8 cut
  • 33-64 players: 6 Swiss rounds, top 8 cut
  • 65-128 players: 7 Swiss rounds, top 8 cut
  • 129-226 players: 8 Swiss rounds, top 8 cut
  • 227+ players: 9 Swiss rounds, top 8 cut

Tournament Staff

Your staff and judges for this event are Caaethil and chiggyfegnoog7 (subject to change). Please contact them on our Discord server if you have any questions or issues outside of your games, or use the Call Judge button if you need to have an issue resolved during a game.
