This is the first of the Discard Pile's Alternative Format series, where players compete in non-standard formats. Entry is free to all.

How to Play

  1. Register and submit a valid decklist prior to the published start time.

  2. Join The Discard Pile Discord Server. We use Discord for event updates and player communication.

  3. Matches are played on the Pokemon TCG Live application.

  4. This event features flexible 3-Day Rounds and will progress over the course of several weeks. You will have three days to coordinate and complete your match against each opponent.

Deck Rules

  1. Your deck must be legal in TCG's standard format (E,F,G legal)

  2. All Pokemon cards must be the same type (e.g. Grass, Lightning, Dragon, etc) - this is a monotype format.

  3. No Rule Box pokemon (V's, Ex's, Radiant, etc) are allowed.

Format

This will be 5 Swiss Rounds followed by top cut. All games will be Best-of-3.

Rules

  1. 3-Day Rounds / 24-Hour Check In: Once a new round is paired all players will have 3 days to complete the match with their opponent. You MUST complete check in and initiate contact with your opponent within the first 24 hours. If you are missing matches/check-ins or are non-responsive to messages from your opponent, you may be dropped without warning at the organizer's discretion.

  2. Going First/Second - in Game 1, the winner of the coinflip decides who goes first. For all susbequent game, the loser of the prior game gets to decide who goes first. In cases where the winner of the previous game wins the coin flip and selects the wrong option by accident, the opponent is entitled to request a restart of the affected game.

  3. Deck Lists MUST match the deck you are running throughout the entirety of the tourney!!! No exceptions. If you notice you have selected the wrong deck do not play any turns call for a judge and we will allow you to correct the deck and restart the game.

  4. Due to the state of Live right now some unfortunate situations may arise during gameplay — a player’s game may end or become unresponsive due to internet or app issues, the player may choose the wrong deck, etc. In those cases, that player should accept the game loss.

  5. All judge calls are final. Please respect the judges!! Any disrespecting of tournament staff or the organizer will result in an immediate ban from all future tournaments.

If you need a judge pls request one in the Limitless Chat. Remember Screen shots are your friend they help judges make the correct calls!! (Please remember to send game invites to the correct opponent) incorrect screen shots won’t help a judge.
