Welcome to Paldea Evolved Standard, hosted by LordAvalon! The details below are as follows:

  • Decks must be Limitless Standard legal. All current bans apply. Paldea Evolved will be allowed.

  • Players must use submitted deck lists for each match. Players who fail to do so may be disqualified if opponent reports.

  • Matches may be restarted if the incorrect deck has been used and brought up to the judge by the person who made the error, but only before the check in timeout. If after, a disqualification will be issued for player misconduct.

  • Tournament will be two Swiss rounds to determine the top cut of 20, followed by four Swiss rounds to determine final ranking.

  • There are no tie points and no player cap. Rounds are 30 mins with a 5 min check in period. Rounds will end when all players finish. Both players will get 0 points (tie score) if going over the 30 minute time limit.

  • Players must check in before each match. Failure to do so will result in a loss unless reported to the Judge as a potential bug before the check in timeout. Failure to check in two rounds in a row will result in disqualification.

  • Judge reserves the right to disqualify over misconduct or bad sportsmanship.

  • If opponent has checked in, but has not sent in a match request by the end of the check in time limit (5 minutes), contact a Judge. If your opponent has not responded on Limitless by the 20 minute mark, you will be given a win.

  • Prize is 1 Paldea Evolved code to those who make it into the top 20 after the first two rounds.

  • Twitch Streamers can get a free second code if they stream the tournament and comment in the Discord channel #TwitchStreamers. Available only to the first 2 per tournament.

  • Prizes will be distruibuted via Limitless at the end of the tournament, and no sooner. Please give up to 15 minutes to distribute after final round has ended.

Commonly Asked Questions

Why am I not in the tournament after I registered?

This can happen because:

  1. You didn't submit a decklist and/or check in
  2. There was a techical glitch on the limitless website

In both cases, there's nothing the Judge can do. Once the tournament starts, that's it. No more applicants can be permitted to join, and a Judge has no ability to affect the roster beyond removing players.

However, if you think it was a technical glitch, you can request a Judge to verify if you are still in the tournament and, if yes, can wait until next round for Limitless to automatically resolve the issue. In the meantime, you should report the bug to Limitless via their contact link, or Discord, at the bottom of the page.

Why did I lose? I'm still in a match.

Most often, this is because you didn't check in, which needs to be done at the start of each match. Failure to do this twice in a row will result in disqualification.

The player is responsible for checking in each round, not the Judge. If you are unable to do so due to website error, immediately request a Judge (before the check in timeout) and tell them of the issue so they can make note of the problem and not count it against you.

However, If neither is the case, then request a Judge to review the problem.

My opponent has not responded. What should I do?

In most cases, give it a little time. You will not be given a win until the check in timer runs out and your opponent has not checked in.

If your opponent has checked in, but has not sent a match request by the check in timeout (5 minutes), contact a Judge to make them aware of the situation. At the 20 minute mark, if still no repsonse from your opponent on Limitless, a Judge will give out a win.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Can you tell me?

Keep in mind that a Judge may not have the experience to accurately answer this question. However, there is a suggested order of who to contact first to answer this question.

  1. Reach out to your opponent. They would be more immedately able to respond to your question and are likely willing to help teach you.
  2. Take a quick look through the Help Page to find clues on what to do next.
  3. Request a Judge if all of the above fails. However, first request through Limitless before trying out Discord. It'll make it easier to help you as the Judges are likely helping multiple people and would prefer if all help requests are in one place.

I can't register/submit a decklist for the tournament. Can you do it for me?

Unfortunately, Judges cannot do this for you. They are responsible for only managing the tournament and are unable to interact with the registration process.

If you think this is due to some bug or issue, reach out to Limitless via the contact link or Discord below. Requesting a Judge's help will not guaruntee to resolve the issue, but you can try seeking advice through the tournament Discord posted on the front page.

And don't use private messaging to reach LordAvalon on Discord for this issue. I won't get any notifications and you'll likely be ignored. Use the tournament Discord main page, where I'll be before matches start.

I can't send a friend request/match invite. Can you help?

Keep in mind that a Judge may not have the experience to accurately answer this question.

The best fix that can be reccomended would be to log out of the game and log back in to fix the problem. However, if it's error code 42055, you need to clear out the game data cache to remove buggy code. This will not delete your game. It only clears out temporary stored information.

How will I know I made it to top 20?

The unfortunate side effect of having a tournament no player cap set up like this is that even if you have two wins by the close of the first phase, you can still fall off from the top 20 by even someone who has the exact same score as you. It's all down to luck. I can't make any promises you'll get in or not, but I still suggest you try your best. Who knows? You might still get in.

How is this tournament fair? It isn't like any of the other tournament I've done.

I do apologize, but the tournament is setup this way because I have finite resources and time to give out each month. This setup is so there is no player cap, but also so I don't have to change the number of Swiss rounds for each person that joins and have this tournament last too long, while also only permitting the number of players I can give packs to at the correct amount of Swiss rounds.

If I make it into Top 20, but want to quit early, will I lose my pack?

No, you will not. Once you make it into the final cut after round 2, you will always be given a pack as long as you remain in the top 20.

If you want to just be sure you'll get your pack, send a message to @LordAvalon on the Discord listed on the front page of the tournament. I'll verify if you qualify and hold a pack for you. Do not send a private message, otherwise I may not get the notice in time.

If you have any more questions, go reach out to @LordAvalon on the tournament Discord listed on the front page. Best of luck!
