RULES & GUIDELINES
1. This tournament will use Regulation C rules. You have until the start of a round to make sure your team meets Regulation C rules, and will forfeit any round where your team doesn't at round start.
2. This is a free event. Prizes will be awarded in the form of gift cards as follows: $50 for 1st (Visa) $25 for 2nd (Visa), and $10 each for 3rd/4th (Nintendo eShop). 1st place will also get an NJCU Esports challenge coin, typically only given to players on our varsity esports teams that win championships.
3. Phones can not be checked in the middle of a match. Each player is responsible for bringing their own paper teamsheet so that we can keep phones away. Spare teamsheet templates will be on hand for those who forget.
4. You must have your own Nintendo Switch and copy of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet to participate, which you are personally responsible for at all times. We do not have devices you can use and are not liable if your equipment gets lost or damaged.
5. Participants will be given blue nametags. NJCU Esports staff, judges, commentators, and other non-participating volunteers will wear red nametags. Additionally, there will be numbered stations to make it easier to find your opponent. Please make sure the information on your nametag lines up with what's on your Limitless account.
6. All rounds will be given 60 minutes. If participants are finished before 60 minutes is complete, they may use that extra time to get food or use the bathroom. All rounds will start/end at their scheduled time and it's the player's responsibility to be present for their matches.
7. Anyone under 18 years old must submit a parent or guardian phone number during registration. Furthermore, nobody under 13 years old is allowed to attend without a parent or guardian present at all times. If you are found to have falsified your age or the phone number in registration to avoid these rules, you will be disqualified immediately and required to sit with the NJCU Esports director until your parent or guardian picks you up (he is a certified teacher and will make you do homework).
8. Certain matches may be streamed at https://twitch.tv/JDCase510/. It's up to NJCU Esports staff to decide who will be streamed and when. If you are asked to stream, you or your opponent may say no. If you both say yes, one of you will play on a docked setup in the NJCU Esports Lounge for that round.
9. If you would like to volunteer as a judge or a commentator, please send an email to njcuesports@njcu.edu ASAP. Judges and commentators will not be allowed to compete so that they may be available at all times. UPDATE 4/23: Applications are closed for both judges and commentators.
10. Rental teams ARE allowed.
11. NJCU is a smoke-free campus. There is no smoking allowed in the building or on school grounds. The streets and sidewalks along the perimeter of campus are not school grounds.
12. Notebooks are allowed and encouraged, but you must start a new page for each match. Table space to write is dependent on your station for each match.
13. Headphones are only allowed during a match if they're wired and plugged into your own Switch.
OPEN TEAMSHEETS
This tournament will use open teamsheets. All sheets must have your six Pokemon with their held item, ability, tera type, and moveset submitted before or during check-in to fully participate. Keep in mind that your opponent can view your teamsheet during matches, and you can view your opponent's sheet as well.
Here is an example teamsheet entry. All six must be one after another in your submission and separated by one line each to format correctly on Limitless.
