What is this event?

This event is the latest PokéStats Old Format Event! This event will be played in the 2017 NAIC Format (PRC-GRI) in a format similar to a League Cup with Swiss followed by a Top Cut. This event WILL use pass-pass to replicate the format's Turn 1 Rules, which allowed you to play a Turn 1 Supporter, but still did not allow a Turn 1 Attack.

The PRC-GRI Format includes the following sets:

  • XY--Primal Clash
  • Double Crisis
  • XY--Roaring Skies
  • XY--Ancient Origins
  • XY--BREAKthrough
  • XY--BREAKpoint
  • Generations
  • XY--Fates Collide
  • XY--Steam Siege
  • XY--Evolutions
  • Sun & Moon
  • Sun & Moon--Guardians Rising
  • XY Promo Cards XY36 and up
  • Sun & Moon Promo Cards SM01-SM39

If you need deck ideas for the format, limitlesstcg.com has an in depth list of all events in the format, which you can find here: https://limitlesstcg.com/tournaments?time=all&type=all&format=PRC-GRI&region=all

How will this event work?

Once the event Starts, you will be paired in Best-of-One Swiss Rounds, the amount of which will be based on attendance (plan for about 6), with a 25 Minute Match Timer. After Swiss Rounds have completed, a Best-of-Three Top Cut will be played with a 60 Minute Match Timer. The number of Swiss Rounds will be decided in accordance with the following table, provided in the Play! Pokémon Tournament Rules Handbook:

Single Day Swiss Structure

For each round, you will have exactly five minutes to Check-In before being given an automatic loss.

In this event, wins will be worth three match points, ties will be worth one match point, and losses will be worth zero match points. Intentional Draws will be allowed.

Top Cut for this event will be "asymmetrical," meaning that there will be a fixed Top Cut, but if there is anyone that would "bubble" out of Top Cut with a record of X-1-1 or better will also automatically make it into the Top Cut, giving bye(s) to the higher seeds as needed. However, if there are 4 or fewer Swiss Rounds, the Top Cut Record will be X-1.

Prizing and Staff Compensation

For this event, prizing will only be going to the Top 4, unless we have a large number of donations to the prize pool. If you would like to donate any packs to this event, please contact @Zaya_Lee#4912 on Discord or @pokestatstcg on Twitter.

This event's approximate prize structure will be as follows (cash amounts TBD):

  • 1st - 100 Pokémon GO TCGO Packs + Cash
  • 2nd - 50 Pokémon GO TCGO Packs + Cash
  • Top 4 - 50 Pokémon GO TCGO Packs
